Sparkies...
I've met the gambit of them, some so brilliant they make me seem like troglodyte, others well, had a hard time finding their own butt crack, which we all could see...

But I used to spend my breaks in front of my screen reading El Reg. At other times, usually after lunch, I would disappear for 15 minutes into the server room to have some peace and quiet when needed, I love the dark except for some blinking lights, and the white noise hum of the fans... I equated it (once daily) with a smoke break that other employees would take every hour on the hour... I do have some honor!
Facebook parent Meta on Wednesday announced a major expansion of its DeKalb data center, currently under construction.
The new plans call for an increase in the number of buildings on the campus located on the south side of the city from two to five, more than doubling the data center's square footage. Meta says the number of people permanently employed in operations at the center will also double, from a previously announced 100 jobs to 200. Another 1,200 workers are currently working to construct the center, now expected to be finished in 2023.

I think they underestimate how many people will be needed there...
OH MY, I actually dove under a desk to find some issue, and the lady across the island of desks was a bit red faced... Not sure if she was embarrassed or angry or flattered! She still thought I was the best support the company every had! I was so intent of finding the issue, I forgot to look!
Paris for the "angle"!
Once had an office full of nice ladies, they decided to rearrange their office due to a new colleague starting. They all had VOIP phones at their desk... and desktop computers connected to our friend RJ45... Due to the cool new building, our glass office could look into their glass office. We watched in horror as they unplugged everything, stacked it in the corner and proceeded to move desks and storage cabinets, sans help from Facilities team. This went on for a day or two while were were in the middle of a complete switch swap of the entire network. We had our work cut out for us when the plugged in their VOIP Phones and computers into the wrong VLANS... Not to mention, they needed many longer cables to accommodate their new layout, what a drama! As George T says "Oh My!"
A stolen new/unregistered/unused iPhone is 'impossible' to brick
I seem to remember the smash and grabs that happened at Apple Stores in NY and Chi-town, those phones were brickable as soon as someone turned them on and tried to use them. Apple knew exactly which phones went out the door, and put them on a "do not fly" list. Same goes for the truck load of Apple gear that got pinched in NL, as a whole unit those devices would not work, but I'm sure they can be used for spare parts.
I'll check again with a friend who managed an Apple Store...
I have one app\time, a wasting game that is 64bit but hasn't seen an update in years, but does exactly what it should it plays pinochle, and there is nothing on android that even comes close, I have both kinds of phones... Should Apple remove it, it will be another reason not to continue with the iPhone, cost is a major factor, especially I've only spent €100 on my second hand SE. And as I look at the comment form it says Add an icon, I'd like to add the Apple with worms...
Some days I needed approval just to ask a question... Don't even think about trying to help yourself if there's a local(union) connected to the thingy you're hoping to improve. Blacklists exist elsewhere besides a firewall! That's one time "Not on the List" is a pleasant phrase.
When my ex moved to NL, she rented a place, having zero clue that the place would be a void. She raised a big 'stunk' ok, a really big 'stunk' and got all of those things installed for free! Once I joined her a year later we moved from that flat, and left everything, hopefully that made the place just a little bit easier to rent after we moved on...
My grampa used to say "Use the best tool for the job." Especially when he caught me using one of his screwdrivers as a wood chisel. I took his philosophy with me when I started IT many years ago. I really hated the willy wagging about which OS is superior when ever I would go to a conference, release party etc. As smart as some of these people were, they were still childish. I have MS, Apple and Linux at my disposal, and will use the best tool for the job at hand.
