Re: this has precisely nothing to do with terrorism
"The terrorists have won."
For fucks sake, how long have you been reading the Reg?
Open your eyes, who is doing all this and why?
Hint: It isn't the fucking terrorists.

"The audit only covers figures from the NSA's Maryland headquarters"
I read this as "NSA's marketing headquarters"
" so at times we find ourselves on the wrong side of the line"
I read this as "so we often find ourselves"
"The FISC does not have the capacity to investigate issues of non-compliance, and in that respect the FISC is in the same position as any other court when it comes to enforcing [government] compliance with its orders"
And I read that last 'compliance' as 'non'compliance.
Is this what is meant by the phrase 'I see the fnords" I wonder?
"but you're all just too damn lazy to drop the Wii controller and the bag of crisps and get your fat overweight butts out and live a real damn life."
You've inspired me to put something down I haven't heard since I was about 5 years old..
I know you are, I said you are, but what am I?
There, that should be about your level.
"There are an awful lot of old farts on here that remember the series."
What are you talking about 'remember'. I have all four series and watch them back to back around once a year (with the wife - who is a B7 convert! - so much so she is the one that usually gets them out of the cupboard).
There is no way they will be able to write a script that will match the original. The special effects may have been crap, the acting a bit dodgy, but the characters and their inter-play were second to none.
Oh how we love to hate Blake.
What happens when you are observed walking past a bin and it displays an advert :-
You're iPhone OS is a version out of date, get an upgrade now and get access to lots of new shit.
Only you've been keeping your phone in your pocket because there a couple of guys eyeing people up as they walk past the bins for some reason. Oh, and they're partially hidden in an alley.
In the film, Enemy of the State, the whole story seems to revolve around an AI gone mad, when in fact it is the AI that is defending the constitution and trying to effect a regime change to stop the traitors (i.e. the current government).
In the end the traitors win and turn off the machine, and the people lost.
Starting to sound more like a documentary every day.
Coat please, I want off this stinking rock. Where's my spaceship already!?
Why would they want to stop it?
As far as I can tell, the American government declaring 'war' on something is simply a statement of support. It is an open code telling all their subordinates what the 'fear du jour' is.
If all these terrible things suddenly stopped happening, what justification will they come up with next? Because they sure as hell won't dismantle what they've built. Too much power in too few hands and surprise, surprise, they have become corrupt.
