Twitter survives election after Ruby-to-Java move
@infernoz - you don't know what your talking about. Are you suggesting everyone should start building their websites in Java in case of the off chance it goes global?! Java is faster, yes (duh?!) but is much more expensive to develop in due to the longer time required to write Java code. Github and Groupon seem to be scaling no problem dispite being Rails applications.
In fact, here Twitter admitted Ruby wasn't the issue:
http://highscalability.com/scaling-twitter-making-twitter-10000-percent-faster
Also - back in 2009 *after* they switched to Scala, they still topped out at 300 tweets a second (pretty pathetic really), so it has taken them 3 years to ramp up to nearly 10 000 tweets per second. Clearly there is much more work involved here than simply switching languages.

If the FCC and DoJ can't even decide who should be investigating, then the case is getting off to a week start.
Right after they finish investigation Apple's iPhone, next they should investigate why the Xbox does not allow games designed in PS3 development tools, and why the Wii doesn't accept games developed with Xbox development tools etc, etc, and so forth.
Jobsian Vendetta - Flash stabbed by Mac the Knife

tsk tsk tsk
"Yes, Flash has its security and performance problems. And, yes, we'd much prefer a webworld that relies open standards. "
You took awhile to get there, but eventually, you put the notion into a nutshell.
It's funny reading all these articles that are dissecting allllllllllll of Apple's reasons not to support flash, when it should really be banned for the above reasons. Have have yet to see any half descent article in defence of the Flash player - other than it's popularity for ads. This is no different than getting rid of the floppy drive.
