So we should be seeing Petaflops in my laptop in about 10 years?

I'd change your shitty hardware you obviously have some fault there if you have a dual core try disabling the Max CPULimit flag in the BIOS, as for the MS voice rec it's a lot better than the shit they ship with Lexus, and especially better than any open source voice rec as someone suggested (that includes the crud from IBM, although their text to speech is bloody good)
My assumption relates to only those who use yahoo, but please feel free to spout your "Fair and accurate crud" about a great OS, I'll just assume you've never tried integrating speech recognition into your own programs before but just to let you know it's now made exceptionally easier and more accurate on vista.
Now go back to squinting at your barely legal porn in your underwear you fat grotesque freak.
I still don't see why they are pursuing this, if they do manage to buy it a wave of hysteria from you haters will drive everyone into not using yahoo (the same as you are doing by vomiting endless crud about vista). I think the money would be a lot better spent building a few more datacenters and increasing funding to the robotic and alternative input divisions (especially considering the superior readability of the new vista speech recognition API's that have been released, those guys deserve a medal as I can now switch the channel by stating in true startrek fashion "Computer, BBC Three")
Apart from the fact that given this is a machine for those Photshop and Video lot I can't help but think that 2GB is well...... Shit especially with RAW images running into the 10's of the mp range.
My conclusion.... buy one of those Apple rip machines if you really need an apple, but then again it's all about the logo, huh guys?
Have you ever used System Centre??? Nope I guess not so shut your Pie hole and get back to rubbing yourself against your box.
@A F
I think this is more for large corps with lots of boxes, the Systems centre just sits there monitoring and informs you of problems or changes that arise so you don't have to keep checking on the machines yourself.
@Anonymous Coward
I concur, I think it will be a while before the Linux lot trust MS but I think they are getting there, having run System Centre on windows boxes I know that it’s stable as and works extremely well saving a lot of time, I’m not too sure how well it would perform on Linux but hopefully for MS sake there’ll be no major issues.
It won't be free but it will probably be as close as $5-$20 I would think and probably come with student office, as for the other comments about me.. I was only kidding, although I am a firm believer of start as you mean to go on and I hate these little blighters to be given even more disadvantages.
I believe (from the Microsoft site and el reg) the pricing structure in place in the east is a relatively new one to fight piracy, given the technology sanctions and such in place in china I would presume most machine are underpowered for a windows OS. Although saying that I have never been (although their solar eclipse next year does fall on my birthday so I may visit) so I may be completely and utterly wrong. Plus I'm sure MS would be willing to either open up some sections of the OS or make specific government deals to get a wedge of that tasty pie.
Seeing as you can buy a legit copy of XP in China for $3 I can see why Microsoft has an in bed deal with Novell..... So they can slowly convert all their customers to windows..... Mwah ha ha, and excellent strategy, these poor Chinese have had an inferior desktop experience for way too long, see you next budget.
What a bunch of moaning tossers, you Linux lot are ripping into an MS OS, and yet you still use that MS OS, if it's so bad and your Linux is soooo good stop using it, take it off dual boot, from what I hear here there is absolutely no need to use a MS OS.
And your Vista taunts, what is the problem with this OS? The usual bugs (as per any new release of any new OS) sure and an increase in hardware to get the performance.... but apart for that it's a nice looking, responsive and stable. I am completely mythed by the level of hatred from people who don't even use it.
As for the conspiracy theorist who thinks MS are spying on him, go lock yourself in a shiny metal box you freak.
I'm not being a 'tard about this, I know a whole load of OS's do a lot of things a lot better than windows does, and I know that windows is bloated. But no other OS that I've used does what I need a PC to do and that's monitor hundred of server and client PCs, develop scalable application fast and play games. Hey maybe in 5 years I might try linux again but at the moment I doubt (unless you have the time to waste) it can be more than a home OS for playing videos and surfing the web.
Anywho don't flame me for this, I know the capabilities of linux, I know my TV, router, and telephone exchange, hey even my PC has an inbuilt Webserver running it, I know it can do brilliant things efficiently, but that ain't going to make me no cash, only Windows can do that, which is my point.
And it's true all my machines are big and beefy and Vista run perfectly on them, they sit there running web services, streaming Sky to the rest of my house and playing my games. Yes it is "An amazing statement considering the constant issues have hit mainstream press repeatedly." but I have never had any issues and I would think that the majority of vista users who have half a brain and don't go clicking porn ads can speak from the same slate.
I use both, vista at home and vista & 2008 at work, I've had no issues with either apart from the early RC's. I've had no performance issues with either and all the people who moan about performance are idiots with crap machines. Guess what Linux on a 64MB 90Mhz P1 won't run my MPEGs, technology moves on and so do OS's, if your not going to update you machine don't bother updating your OS, sometimes I think the Linux lot just want us to live in some nostalgic past of shell interfaces.
Microsoft OS's are the all round best, with them you can work and play on the same machine.
Judges, Censors, politicians and this Standard lobby lot all hate Microsoft for some reason. Apple could quite easily get away with offing up a AOXML systems and it would be passed through without a second glance, it’s just the way it is, hypocrisy, buddyism and bribery with the CEO’s of Google / Apple. I don’t think Microsoft can do much about it, in a court case they will more than likely loose and in any other battles they will more than likely fail thanks to the unjustified wave of anti -Microsoft sentiment.
Luckily Microsoft products are more thought through and win over in the end.
Sorry I completely forgot that all major OS need security updates... I suppose some of them though just don't bother telling people about it... cough... apple... cough...
infact for the 2 months or so I had crapbuntu installed I was nagged daily for updates.
No matter, we all know what the better and most loved OS is, just look at the stats.
How will open source make things transparent? what a crook of shit, it's down to the data sharing and that's were that tud of a convention "e-GIF" comes in.
How the hell is it going to change if it runs on Apache or IIS, another bunch of dreamers, thanks for the extra Billion on the Tax bill you tards!
When I lived on a council estate all the unemployeed havd 42" plasmas, latest games consoles and brand new fitted kitchens FOC, if you put it into the scheme of things this one off £100K?? per MP is nothing. You should be more concerned about where the majority of your tax is wasted
Once again governments and hippies don't seem to understand that business is the backbone of any economy, if you lower the tax on businesses, more businesses can thrive, more jobs, less welfare and greater monies into the economy. Although the stupid welfare lead Labour government seem to think that businesses are an infinite source of cash, although as we can see by our non existent manufacturing industry this government and moronic "I'm a cleaner and a union rep" unions will eventually send this country into the ground.
He we see the current working model
Do
-- Up the Tax, companies won't mind
BusinessTax = BusinessTax + 3%
For each Company In Companies
If(BusinessTax > Company.AffordableCosts)
Companies.Remove(Company)
Next
While (Companies.Count > 0)
-- We will never exit the above loop... will we, well if so.. plan B
CivilianTax = CivilianTax * 20000%
@Dr Who - Whens the last time you used a text document simultaneously as a team, I for one have never done so and never will. I edit it pass it on to someone else checking... simple as. google apps are absolutely, abysmally shite, if any other company but google released this as a product it would be shot to the ground.. it's only saving grace is it's free.
A piece of shite software for tramps.... go google.
Bill is right, real business needs real software, any company that uses google apps is heading down the bog even google don't use google apps.
A googleplexed world
Replace the word "Google" in this article with "Microsoft" then watch the comments roll on in as well as anyone with a continental shelf fining for its usage.
No doubt they’ll be some decoders on each end so they can extract whatever information they like, hideous.
@Niall Campbell - your solution would cripple the European economy you tit, computers don't just sit on your desk at home.
This is a typical bureaucrat fine, similar to the ever mounting tax the UK government placed on British manufacturing industries and look where that got us - a crippled fragile country that's on a knife edge of collapse.
The EU will feel so good after they've got their tasty fine, next it'll be fining google for their monopoly then move on to the smaller companies. In the end everyone will suffer for the greed of these Pigs, I hope those who support this ludicrous fine will eventually feel it's backlash.
