The review states that the quality of the camera is "meh".

I have a Xperia Pro from 2011 which has a camera that I think is good quality.

Anyone here compared the camera of a Z/ZL/SP with a 2011 model?

I agree with you completely but you and most people who talk about patents and copyrights always forget the consumers.

Yes, it's a shame he didn't manage to sell as many units as he wanted but it's only because other producers could do it better or cheaper. The groups that benefits the most is the consumers. As it happens, it is also the group that represents the greater number.

A great invention is only great if it can be produced at a price that consumers will buy. It might not be the original inventor who does the producing. His only advantage is that he is the first to have access to that invention. If he can't use this time to get a market advantage then it's tough luck!

I totally agree with you (probably because I have a similar setup).

There is a market for eReaders but the life of those devices is much longer than a tablet. That explains the sales numbers in my opinion but I've been wrong plenty of times before.

I work in Manila too and while I agree with you, there are some avantages too. When criticised, they don't go all precious about the way they work and they will change and improve if it's constructive criticism.

When their counterparts in the Paris office are told to "change" something in the way they work, you never hear the end of it!

I work in the Philippines coming from Europe and my pay is cut in half. I still get paid more than my local workmates and I have a swimming pool and a gym in my condo.

It's not the number at the bottom of your paycheck that counts, it's what you can buy with it!

If you want to come back to Europe, you'll have less in your pocket for sure but Europe is just a nice holiday destination with very pretty museum cities now.

I am currently working in the Philippines where many IT call centres are located. I was born in France and worked in the UK for 10 years.

Don't dismiss going abroad to get into IT. It's clearly not for everyone but it's an eye openner and you can see why companies are sending jobs there. There is no benefits if you don't work and health care is all private. Result:in the helpdesk I work in, they all want to work hard, they do overtime if necessairy. They all want the latest shinies and they will work for it even though their pay, relative to the shinies, is much less than in western countries. There is more girls than guys and another huge difference is that everyone is really friendly and if they see someone with more money than them, they are happy for their success.

You'll need extra languages skills as a foreigner though, they all speak English and only employ foreigners if they can't find the skills locally (I'm lucky I have French).

I don't have an expat contract but a local one so I get paid a ridiculously low amount by western standard but what matters is what you can buy with it locally. I enjoy a condo with swimming pool and gym.

It might not be for Thomas, the original poster but It might help someone. This is only my experience, your mileage may vary.

I just bought a similar monitor this weekend after much reading. I got hte LG IPS234V in the end and was surprised not to see it here.

My other choices appear in your ten here so I'm surprised the LG wasn't in it. I really like mine! Having said that, I'm in Asia and not in the UK so the prices might be different.

Calibre is indeed my friend.

Like all tech savy ElReg readers, I feel that this sort of thing won't happen to me because, on principle, I don't trust any company to do the right thing 100% of the time.

I can only imagine how it feels for an unsuspecting everyday user. They must feel violated when something like that happens. At least we expect it will happen to us one day so we have a half baked backup plan.

From the article, there doesn't seem to be any recourse either. This is bad customer service of the highest level. Probably down to that one guy too. I wish him the biggest shower of c@ck!

The way I see it, magazines and newspapers have all the same content taken from press releases. They might differ in the theme they cover but any single news item is covered in the same way in different papers.

Is it really a surprise that users go to the place where there is less ads?

Bring me some original content with some real research and it doesn't matter if there are ads. I might even click on one of them one day.

A more likely scenario would be that they will go to the next factory. The only thing achieved would be delay in production with workers having had to relocate with no improvement in conditions.
