Is cloud data secure?

ArghZombies

If I have my data stored locally

then it can only be stolen / lost through my own mistakes or incompetence.

However if it is stored in the Cloud then not only am I risking losing it through my own mistakes but also through those of other people.

It doesn't really matter how secure the online system is: If files are stored on an external device kept in my cupboard then not even the greatest hacker or most incompetent network admin on the planet can cause it to get taken.

Firefox 4 'feature complete' beta debuts after Jager shot

It is still officially a Beta

It does have the 'Feedback' option, so go ahead and let them know. I'm sure you're not the only one who would prefer a standard status bar.

Status Bar = Add on Bar

You can still get your extensions (NoScript, IETab etc) if you turn on the Add On Bar. This is now a full XML toolbar rather than a status bar, which means you can drag other options down there (it's where my bookmark toolbar now sits).

Yes, it might get annoying that you can't always view the full URL of a link you're hovering over, but perhaps there are addons for this for people who miss this feature. I'm happy with it showing the URL in the main navigation toolbar, that way you can compare where you are with where you're going without having to glance up and down the page.

Google search rolls out 'instant' site previews

Thumb Up

Well I quite like this

It means that I can find the sites that will be of interest to me much faster and will less back/forward clicks:- Type a query, have the results keep updating so I can see if what I'm typing is yeilding reasonably valid results, then when I've finished typing I can just preview the pages with a hoverover to check the content is actually valid and not just SEO keyword stuffed nonsense.

Isn't that what search engines should be doing: helping us find the most relevant sites as easily and quickly as possible.

Big Brother

If he doesn't like the current system

Why doesn't he form his own political party and then get voted into power by getting his papers to support only his views. From there he could outlaw free news companies and reap the rewards there!

I think someone has set a precedent for this idea somewhere already, no?
