Going green Hertz: Rental giant axes third of EV fleet over lack of demand

JC 5

Had a great experience on my last trip

Just to balance the other side of this discussion, I had a month rental in Dec and supercharging cost 33c a KWh and I was paying 8c or so at home.

I have a 220V RV socket and was getting a smidge over 7Kwh on that which meant I could easily charge from 30% to full overnight

Many places had free destination charging and in that month probably paid <$40 for 1500 miles. Ironically in the UK I live in London in an apartment, so cant charge and have an ICE car

My FL experience has removed some of the dread from the eventual EV switch.

That said I'd only get a Tesla - not a fan boy just there supercharger network always worked. Other chargers are just a pain re how much they charge and how can I pay or do they work..

FAIL

according to the FAQ:

"We will be launching a London 2012 ticket resale programme which will give ticket holders the opportunity to sell their tickets, for no greater than face value, to prospective buyers in a secure environment. Further information will be released in 2011."

This sounds like a TicketExchange type idea ie undersubscribed/unpopular events are unlikely to resell face value - this wasnt what Lord Coe said 60 days ago.....

"There will be an opportunity next year for people to resell unwanted tickets at face value through the official resale programme."

Note he didnt say up to face value... :(

Im glad I only opted for stuff I wanted to do/can afford - many others didnt.....

Alert

Its like any lottery

Except you dont know for a month if youve won :(

At least with this one you can get a refund for unwanted prizes...(next year)

I dont see why an email couldnt go out in the next few days - its not like they are doing this by hand.

Still they should make some good interest on all the cash til the refund site is online ..

I guess the real winner is Visa (as I doubt many used the high street sources to get tickets)

And to all the moaners that couldnt get ticket applications submitted in the last hours....You had 6 weeks!

Re Robert Hill

At Least You get Virgin as a choice...

I live in Zone 2 (London) no Virgin, no FTTC

I get about 2MBs which is better than some villages im sure.....but not what you'd call great for central London

FTTC is coming by March, but my line isnt compatible so who knows when I will ever get a decent speed

BT fibre upgrades hit full speed
