It actually surprises me how brazen they are with this BS. First big news Wikileak and a mysterious arrest warrant is issued in Sweden for Assange, that quickly gets withdrawn. New batch of big news leaks, and guess what, he's back being a sex offender again! I'm just waiting for them to photoshop some pictures up of him hanging out with Gary Glitter.

They just don't seem to care how obviously trumped up it all looks. Are they that arrogant, that they believe the world public are moronic enough to believe this stuff?...Actually, don't answer that.

Yeah, the main reason I stick with Firefox is the the plugins, particularly, noscript and flashblock, both of which I use. Opera needs to consider opening it's system out to fully to allow powerful plugins if it wants to take on Firefox, and not just try the "we'll include the kitchen sink, features wise, so you don't need proper plugins" approach. Any time I've searched Opera plugins, all there seems to be is 101 calendar apps. Why do I want a bloody calendar in a web browser, FFS?

Worth pointing out though, is that Flashblock isn't infallible, I've had a few "WTF?" moments when flash ads start running by somehow either deliberately or inadvertently bypassing flashblock's Flash detection. Don't know how they do it, but flashblock isn't perfect.

I have worries about HTML5 and it's video streaming capabilities. I suspect it's going to open up a new security can of worms for malware peddlers to exploit. At least I can for the most control flash and flash video with flashblock and noscript.

flashblock stops youtube if you want it to. Flashblock and noscript work fairly well together, too, so you can run both.

Maybe someone should look into creating a ship that's some sort of Helium/Hydrogen hybrid. e.g. Have an outer shell which uses the safer but less efficient Helium, but a inner shell of Hydrogen. Else maybe combine the two in inter dispersed gasbags. I think Helium as an inert gas would be pretty good at putting out a fire? So if a Hydrogen pouch caught fire, a neighbouring helium pouch, if punctured by the fire might help to put it out and contain the damage.

Alternatively create a molded, fire resistant/proof honeycomb structure that could seal in the Hydrogen in say, tiny little bubbles, a bit like the air bubbles in an Aero bar.

Wouldn't it be great if they could create slabs of a sort of fireproof polystyrene type material, full of small hydrogen bubbles, and if you let it go it would just float up to the ceiling? :) But would be relatively safe because the hydrogen would be contained within the structure. Anyway, maybe that's science fiction, but might be possible someday if it isn't today.

Anyway, I'd love to see big airships back. Fingers crossed.

It's possible I'm partly speaking in technical ignorance on the issue, but I'd have thought a sensible solution, that doesn't affect website functionality too much, would be to implement a similar system to the "allow 3rd party cookies" settings option in web browsers. I.e. Have an option in the web browser that limits a website to only be able to query your history for it's own domain and sub domains, a "allow 3rd party web history queries" check box - which you'd naturally turn off to help protect your privacy. It wouldn't stop the same site from snooping on your past visits, of course, but it would stop rogue sites from data mining your whole web history.

Would that work? I think it would, wouldn't it?

It was a silly prank, no more. If he gets more than 2 months inside, then it'll be a complete joke, and a message to say "don't mess with the political elite or try to embarrass them in any way, else you'll pay." Even 2 months would be ridiculously harsh.

But unfortunately knowing what judges are like when it comes to "hacking" offenses, he'll be looking at a 2 year stretch.

So basically El Reg digs up a report from a scientist that states on his Facebook page that he's a "fan of" the California Beef Council. Hmmm, yeah, he certainly sounds independent (props to J 3 for that, btw). But we know the normally sensible Reg puts on it's tinfoil hat and screams "CONSPIRACY!!!" when it comes to carbon emissions and climate change, and doesn't mind a bit of tabloid style reporting when it suits this agenda.

So the UN's figures are too low when it comes to emissions from transport, so you say the whole idea that reducing meat production to reduce carbon pollution is "debunked"? Don't think so, because any carbon pollution reduction is better than no carbon pollution reduction. Less meat still = less heat, so getting people in the wealthy west to sensibly reduce, but maybe not give up their consumption of meat is not a bad thing (it's ok for their health, too).

The Daily Express would be proud of this article. I'm hoping for some Diana conspiracy theory stories from The Register soon.
