How much do you think Cisco's paying erstwhile Brit PM David Cameron?

Re: BFH

"What is it with you remainers and having to throw insults about all the time. "Right-wing nutjobs", "misinformed", "Naive and childish". It's almost as if your arguments are not strong enough on their own merits and you need to back them up with insults."

This is just it. We don't have arguments, we have facts and every time we tell you brexiteers those facts you come back with ill-informed arguments. It is literally impossible for us to win. We say, look at this truth here and you just say "potato" or some other such utter nonsense and wander off muttering to yourself!

Re: Donated

This is the problem, conflating people of Jewish faith and the state of Israel. They are two separate things.

There are Jewish people living all over the middle-east, happily living side by side with Muslims and Christians for millennia.

Comparing what the state of Israel has been doing and continues to do to the people of Palestine with what the Nazi's did to Jewish people in Europe isn't such a big leap.

Another Appstore?

Blackberry and Microsoft both found it nigh on impossible to get app developers to develop for their respective platforms, I don't see how anyone else is going to fair any better.

Why use Edge?

Have you used it recently? Yes, at first and for a while it was a pile of crap. But now, compared with the bloat of Firefox and Chrome, Edge is really bloody good.

Re: Paying over the odds for less protection than normal...

@xanda If you have problems with a seller on Amazon or eBay just ignore their 'returns policy' - just deal with PayPal/Amazon/whoever else handled the transaction. First off, the law trumps any made up 'returns policies' these sellers may have and secondly, in 99% of cases PayPal will take the side of the buyer.

""While setting up machines in advance enables customers who want the service to benefit from it straight away, it is not something everyone needs."

Utter bastards. This is something nobody needs. They simply prey on the ill-informed, elderly people who think they can trust a shopworker, expecially when they are in a big national brand shop like this. Utter, utter scum.

I forget sometimes just how many tinfoil hat wearing luddites there are on this site. Only takes an article relating to Facebook or Twitter every so often to remind me!

Office 365 ONLY

The article doesn't seem to mention the other bit, Office 2019 is going to be Click-To-Run only, there will be no MSI install.

Microsoft pushing everyone towards the cloud. They have a very long way to go to convince this sysadmin that their cloud is anything like secure enough for me to recommend to my bosses.

Okay, I'll rephrase - It's TNT, in water. It'll just be a squidgy mess by now. Hardly like to blow up.

Keep going MS, you've almost got it ready for the enterprise! A few more tweaks and a rethink on the price and we can start pushing our users away from there stupid iOS infatuation.

Pointless waste of money?

For this to be cost effective it would need to be used a lot. If it's being used a lot surely it would be better for the person to actually be in the office...?

Is there a technical reason why they can't use existing infrastructure to attach the equipment to? I'm think pylons, telegraph poles, wind turbines, even big trees.

Wind power: Even worse than you thought

VooDooMonkey

Un-Necessary Title Goes Here

Wind power is not a resource best suited to mass production of energy. Quelle surprise!

When will the powers that be get their heads around the fact that centralised energy production is not the way forward.

The way forward is for every house to have it's own supply of electricity from solar panels on the roof and a small wind turbine at the bottom of the garden.

The way forward is for every commercial premises to have their roofs covered with solar panels and at least one wind turbine in the car park.

The way forward is for every street light to have a solar panel on the top.

With all of the excess energy from the above going to the National Grid. Trying to use wind and wave energy to power the whole of the national grid is just pointless.

What free speech?

What's all this talk of free speech. This is the United Kingdom. We don't have 'free speech'. And while we're about it, we don't have a recognisable constitution either (in the same way that the USA does).

People in this country keep going on about their 'rights'. Apart from those given to us by the EU we have none under British Law.
