It's been one of the most fantastic adventures of mankind yet. The science , the imagery , Huygens landing , this has been a stellar bright mission and accomplishment. Congratulations to the engineering team that gave us such a great ship. Ill be sad to see it plunge , but then again , it's time to say bye bye and thanks for all it did for us. Mission accomplished. o7
'Tech troll' sues EFF to silence 'Stupid Patent of the Month' blog. Now the EFF sues back
The valuable bits ?
From the patent :
" ... this invention uses a combination of Flash VOS VTOC and ACPI to perform “Cold Swaps” or “Context Switching”, which remove one active OS temporarily from all or part of memory and replace it with another active OS in all or part of memory.
Looks to me like that is the part they think has value

".. this invention uses a combination of Flash VOS VTOC and ACPI to perform “Cold Swaps” or “Context Switching”, which remove one active OS temporarily from all or part of memory and replace it with another active OS in all or part of memory."
I believe that's the part they think has value.
Put down your coffee and admire the sheer amount of data Windows 10 Creators Update will slurp from your PC
Come on ..
At some point there's going to have to be something else than having to suffer the digital rape that's windows 10. I know little about WHY on earth anyone would do this to themselves. I got on Mint , Steam , PlayOnLinux and never looked back. All the stuff i need to do can be done with a trustable OS .
I dont get it. Maintenance on this PC is zero. Why on earth is anyone still suffering at the hands of the likes of Microsoft ?
Why do you like to suffer ? What's keeping you , holding you back from the transition ?
I dont get it. Really .. after 16 fucking years of Linux i finally see no reason to use windows at all.
Consider the alternatives and adapt is my saying. Anyways " We are the Linux geeks , resistance is futile , you will be assimilated along with your technology " LOL
Teenagers think Doritos are cooler than Apple
What's cool ?
Yeah Doritos man .. btw , at the moment they got ketchup Doritos for a short while , awesome d00d ..
And no , they haven't got databases with all your life in it. So 2 reasons right there to like Doritos more than Google. Pathetic ? you bet :) As for Apple ..there's billions of things on earth cooler than them , they're called girls :)

move is not to play. Assume that the moment you upload data to the net it's fully public. Do like most people in high places do .. don't use that crap if you want to keep stuff private. Really .. when you think about it well you will have the same conclusion ..don't. In many ways we led better lives , experienced more freedom and were way more secure than before it's proliferation to the masses. This is something that on retrospective should never have proliferated to the public. The idea was nice , but the governments made it into an inferno Dante would have been proud of. Orwell himself would have flipped his lid. Networks and machines are nice , we do fantastic stuff .. it's just what we have done with it , what the Governments have done with it that's the fuck up. Don't blame the machines , blame the humans 18 inches from the screen. lol

US health system is the worst in the dang universe. No money you die.( i saw it while living in the USA ) Look at civilised countries , we ALL offer healthcare to everyone .There's no company that needs to provide anything , teeth work in some places but we don't need to disclose anything to anyone.
Want to repel a headache having to do all this administrative bullshit in company ? .. National Universal Health Care Works for countless countries and billion + individuals.
At leasy we don't let people die because of lack of coverage. Which you do everyday by the hundreds.
We dont take the uninsured mental patients in an ambulance dropping them at a park to get rid of them.
One thing Americans must start to understand is compassion and that each of them have a responsibility to another. That last one , they will never understand.

Get this: Tech industry thinks journos are too mean. TOO MEAN?!
Ok for me , not ok for you ..
... even if doing so generates more revenue. " So tech companies who do everything and anything for a buck is telling the tech press they shouldn't ? hmm .. kettle ,pan, black ? On top of that , telling the press what to do is kind of " who the hell do they think they are ? " If the technology sucks , that's the press it deserves. If the tech's good , they get the words too. IMHO they should have just shut up.

Kentucky pried chicken: Fried grease chain's loyalty club hacked
An alternate
Since publishing the original reciepe ( Chicago Tribune ) a lot of folks like me have took the opportunity to refine the technique and actually do a better ,healthier fried chicken than what they do.
IMHO There is no need to go there at all since we got the reciepe and what it yields is a better product.
Turn your kitchen in a lab for a few days , experiment with the formulas ,changing oil temps , fine tuning the herbs and spices to your liking and for you too it will be adios KFC . Free your mind ... and at the same time .. free your stomach of their absolutely toxic chicken.
Loyalty card? Really? Why data-slurping store cards need a reboot
Just say no..
It's simple .. they track you , keep files on you , the government does too , facebook is the instrument of the US Government to keep tabs on everyone .. we wont get into Win 10 .. now the British government want to be able to lie in court .. ain't it just time to give up the net , get back into a cabin near a lake and go back to our roots ? The world they want is not the world i want to be a part of.

Trump hires very best, greatest net neut haters to head FCC transition

On net neutrality. Does anyone believe for one minute Google or any other large outlet don't pay for their access ? Carriers , carry. That's their job ,they lay down the infrastructure and charge customers for their use of their pipes. Whatever is carried is none of their business. They got pipes and rent pipes. Whatever the pipe carries is none of their business period. The claim that they carry stuff that is valuable to others is not a valid argument. They rent pipes and charge for their use. That's the job of a carrier.
Anything else is argumentative bullshit trying to steal value from other companies who's job is content and do well at it.

Trump's torture support could mean the end of GCHQ-NSA relationship
Wait ..
Do you REALLY believe that's all they're doing ? Splashing a cloth with water ?
Get real .. Behind the walls unseen .. in CIA's offshore prisons , for people they hand over to third parties this is not even the beginning of how they torture people. Intelligence is the dirtiest of all games , all countries have to play it. It's kept away from our eyes cause we would not be able to stand looking at how the game is really played . At how the people that are hired to do the job for us and our countries have to play the game . This is no fantasy , this is war .. no sides can afford to play any differently.
British mobile AI 'bot perfecter stalked by Silicon Valley – report

If the data and processing is done " in home " on a PC and that the data used is strictly kept in home ,away from vultures like Google and Facebook , good , full speed ahead .. but if it becomes only one more way to pry into private lives ,feed the intelligence agencies and sell advertisement i say let it die.

Living with the Pixel XL – Google's attempt at a high-end phone
Missing ..
I often go down to basics and i'm generally getting shot for it .. but , with all the gadgetry around the basic phone questions are often overlooked , how well does it actually carry voice , voice quality , clarity , how easy is it to find the " sweet spot " to actually hear anything when answering ? How sensitive is the mic to background you don't necessarily want the other end to hear ? Seems reviews of phones are more about their gadgets than down to ground questions like : how well does it handle calls.

I therefore make the observation and propose that WE send them the ball back and hack their servers and publish emails, internal party notes , memos , papers and everything they use the internet for and put it on sites that can be accessed by their population. .. Restart the old shortwave stations , boost power by 100 and broadcast to their population programs where their memos are read live on the air .Give them a notice : stop hacking us or we chop in one foot pieces the cables that links them to the internet from their country and send the pieces back one by one in boxes marked " postage due " to the Kremlin.

Mandatory disclosure ..
That is one case where the company should be forced to disclose to ALL it's email accounts holders that they done so and provide a link to delete their data and account in one click. Their mail service is to be avoided and as far as i am concerned , was deleted the moment Reuters broke the news.
I highly encourage those who haven't done so yet to do it.

Alternative is to stop the licensing nonsense and just fund the BBC with income taxes within the country's budget and say bye bye to the snooping.

Now , can the Israeils with their agencies be any more trusted than the Chinese ?
Can their " cyber security " be any more trustworthy than the chinese's ? I doubt it very much.
In fact .. when cyber security is concerned , no country , the US , England , Israel , China or Russia can be trusted to give us secure equipment or applications not backdoored to serve their masters.
Security is an illusion. It's just a matter of taking sides imho.

With IRC you need to rely on a pastebin and file upload service to handle code and files.

Saying there's no way to send a file on IRC is totally false and has been for at least 10 years .
