Nul points: PM May's post-Brexit EU immigration options

I think a read of the paper is in order.

They found no risk to the environment at the moment but they also found no increase in yield.

So there is not much point in handing your cash to the new tech giants, this is mostly a revenue stream for them and there is very little in it for anyone else.

That may change but many smart farmers are finding more profit in organic methods.

Scientific consensus that 2014 was record hottest year? No

Re: Well

You really can't, you can be selective or downright lie but statistics are usually pretty clear.

This is what Lewis is doing, desperately trying to push his long failed campaign to support the polluters for whatever reason.

The idea that there is a hiatus is idiotic.

If there has been no increase in the last 10-15 years then you would expect the temps to demonstrate that, so at least 50% of the mean temps would be well below the 20th century mean. They are clearly not.

Re: Pi ... its full value has never been expressed...

I think you may have typed in a hurry too, what is that word.

I don't think maths is the reg's sort of thing.

Back to the question, surely it depends on what you mean by expressed.

Pi should be something like ln(-1)/(-1^0.5)?

Happy to be told how to really write it in that form.

So witty

Yes, all very hilarious. Mass immigration and millions of refugees, nasty wars over declining resources. It happens now, women, men, boys, girls raped and forced into prostitution as they flee fighting in central and north Africa, Burma, Sri Lanka...

As I said, hilarious.

Re: I would imagine...

I couldn't agree more. The idea that using these simple scanning tools, which are legal, must be regulated by law is preposterous. The college have a duty to protect data, part of that is making data available when needed. They appear to be saying that their network is so weak that running scans will take down the system. That means they don't have a legal system and need to get it fixed. They should also be punished for failing to protect users data in both senses.

Running a security scan can slow things down and potentially break systems, however if I was to test the doors of the cars on my street without any intention of opening the door I'm not sure I could be prosecuted.

In network security it appears that I could be prosecuted rather heavily with no malicious intent. Doesn't seem right.

Climate watch: 2012 figures confirm global warming still stalled

It may help to note that the oceans are still warming just as much as they have been in recent times. Funny that wasn't mentioned here.

Are companies are the only legitimate users of the internets?

I can think of a few legit uses, perhaps by posters outside China, Israel or similar.

I bet Bradley Manning could have used a bit of deniability too, although that depends on your definition of legit.

Lewis is getting desperate

Even the piece in the Mail admitted in the text that it was only a minority that had suffered faster decline. This trolling to support big oils $60bn taxpayers funding is sounding a little hysterical now. Nice reference too to the Glacier melting more slowly (than a general estimate in 2008, they are still melting faster than the IPCC projections just like global warming is still exceeding IPCC projections)

Gosh the god squad are out in force today

Educated, i don't think so, sure that means understanding how little you know.

Yes there is some data that suggests that radiation may be good for you, part of the problem is that it's not so easily controlled and we just don't know.

Do you really think the exclusion zone is not a problem, might it make the fixing of the huge problems they have take a little longer.

And make these blighted peoples lives a little harder.

Lewis is really becoming an embarrasment on this one, yes we need much more research into nuclear but these things are only for making nukes - never a serious attempt to make energy.

There, you are now educated.

Agree, not really journalism let alone IT stuff

As a long standing naysayer, obviously the multi billion effort is now taking huge amounts of resource that could probably be useful elsewhere.

For what? My local nuke powerstations (Scotland) generally only work a couple of months a year (there is a small problem so one hot water heater gets shutdown - fixed - started up while the other was offline for several months for routine maintenance, we're lucky if there ever work and they cost a fortune). And then they cost billions just to take them slowly apart and bury bits in concrete and stuff.

If Japan didn't have these steam engine generators they would be in a much better position. I hope they get there as quickly as possible.

Science is modelling, whether computer or theortical.

Then you can use statistics to see how good your theories are. The scientists have been rather careful with the amount of warming they predict so most models over the last 20 years have been calibrated to minimise the warming and they have been off by under predicting the warming that has happened. The temp is rising faster than predicted, icecaps and glaciers melting faster etc.

There will be feedback in any chaotic system so this is good news but not nearly good enough for the backward (that is the opposite of progressive isn't it) and politically incorrect to really take any hope from. We aer pushing a chaotic system and if it hits turbulance then I suspect we're in trouble.

And btw yanks, you live in a socialist country and should be proud. The constitution is based on post revolutionary France and you are not likely to go back even if you want to.

Although I have never heard any conservatives actually say, "please take away my property and tax me for whatever living I can scratch on your land, please take my daughter and do as you will, please take away my vote and all rights etc".

Suprise that

There is more at the telegraph, they are going crazy I think in the belief that at long last someone from the denier camp has something to say.

Of course they haven't read his letter - he doesn't have anything to say except he didn't like the tone of the extracts of certain climategate emails.

Oh, and he believes it's all a conspiracy and because he knows maths (not usual in a physicist) he must be right.

I'm not having a go at people who do physics - they just don't have the time.

Actually it says "may even have increased".

It's a chaotic system, being forced. With any luck there may be unknows which may work in our favour, such as this.

But it's a very long shot according to the reliable sources - I wouldn't count on it.
