I've seen people in an office who take a half hour on a restroom break. One minute in the restroom, 29 minutes stopping at half a dozen offices/cubicles along the way
(Slightly playing devil's advocate here...) Some people just need face-to-face contact with colleagues, rather than IMs, Emails, etc. On a recent management course, we told encouraged to get off our butts and go and talk to people rather than just send soulless emails.
I worked for an organisation that did annual full-scale disaster recovery exercises, which were instructive. The chap in charge of them was quite sanguine about failures: his point was that he far preferred to find things didn't work during an exercise than during the real thing.
People don't appreciate that failures are a wonderful learning experience. In my line of work, I've learned a lot more from unpicking a failure than working on a fault-free system.
I've also heard several instructors across different areas say that they often prefer pupils who appear to make lots of mistakes as the pupils learn a lot more from the mistakes than those who do things right every time.

I don't call short term memory loss a "good recovery".
I remember my school maths & science teachers repeatedly telling us not to blindly trust calculators or computers (or humans!). Once you've got the answer you should always ask the question: "Does this number look/feel right?" e.g. Is it the right scale? Is it appropriate for the context of the problem?
Back in the noughties, before Oracle bought Sun, Sun were hemorrhaging customers as Sparc & Solaris were seen as overly expensive products. Even the Sun resellers said that they were seeing many of their customers switch to x86 & linux. Anyone who's still running Solaris/Sparc should have formed an exit strategy by now.
The fact that Oracle's now being very vague about future on-prem Solaris & Sparc is not exactly unexpected.

But if you're outsourcing because you don't know how to do something (e.g. You're running a small business, want a website but know nothing about how to build or design one) how are you going to know someone is (or is not) trustworthy?
Wow! I never realised that BT fleece their customers so much! I'm on A&A, and including their line rental, I pay £45 for FTTC. (I'm getting 76Mb/s) Not only am I saving £15 a month, I also avoid having to deal with BT's customer service, there's no throttling or filtering of my traffic, I get a static IPv4 address plus a block of IPv6 addresses too.
Win all round I think.

Buggy software means plugging in and syncing [...] sometimes takes so long that impatient crews disconnect them halfway through the process. This results in [...] having to reset the affected laptops.
Who the heck designed a system that can't cope with connection loss? These things aren't going to be working in an idealised lab, but out in the field where things break.
This is the second story today on El Reg about products being shipped with insecure by default security. For devices that are intended for the consumer market, good security practices must be set as the default. Time and again, we read how consumers are not tech savy and don't know what to do (or can't be bothered) to keep themselves secure.
The issue here, is that the board of Wikipedia are claiming poverty and begging for money. But the board are cash rich (They need $2 Million to run the site, ask for $25 Million, then carry on asking for money when they reach their obscene target).
As the there doesn't seem to be anyone keeping the board under control and the people who do the real work are unpaid, It's up to people like the press to highlight the financial disparity.

It's been demonstrated that abusing the SS7 protocol (which underpins carrier level interconnects) can achieve this - and a lot more.

This outer ring isn't expected to give Cassini much of a problem, but the engine port has been covered just in case and its high-gain antenna is being used to shield as much of the instrumentation as possible
I'm glad I didn't have to make the choice between protecting the engine or the antenna!
