Here in Finland if we want any more seriously metal than the ones we make here, we look to Norway. They've got the black metal scene down to pat. They own it, they live it, they love it. At least that's how it seems to me. But for personal tastes, i don't fancy it. It just sounds like a screaming gorilla tearing apart a band's practice room to me. But hey, beauty of music, something for all right?
Printed books have the great value of not containing drm. And if amazon would like to do an orwell on my bookshelf, the repo man would have to negotiate with a baseballbat firewall. Not to mention that printing books means less forests here in finland and elsewhere and increases global warming! Yay! But yeah, as long as ebooks have proprietary drm they are worthless. All that needs to happen is that your service provider bankcrupts and your library is locked forever (that is unless you remove the drm by some illegal way that can send you to prison.) Can't lock my library... me and my wooden baseball bat guarantee it. Grrr.
We should appreciate the oscars. They let us know what not to watch. I mean, the more oscars, the less value. That's how it seems to have been for a while now. And no, Avatar most certainly does not require the oscars :D the movie's done so well allready that i think JC can smile all the way to the bank you know? But yeah, District 9 and Moon are the scifi flicks that deserve the oscars (if it were a price worth having, but after checking, Phantom Menace received no oscars, only 3 nominations. There is hope?). Not Camerons treehugging suicide inducing diatribe about the greed of the white man. And when it comes to the soundtrack, i thought he had just taken it out of Aliens. Besides, who needs oscars when you have a mountain in China, HALLELUJAH!
Austria has conscription so why the ad? It's difficult to sex up something that's compulsory and if this ad was meant to increase the number of female volunteers i think they missed the mark. That is if austrian women them selves are even stranger then the domestic variety. Besides, if i would have done the ad i would have made the women get in the ifv. And there whouldn't have been some silly army stuff in the back but nice couches, champaigne, chocolates, roses, and keeping with the level of the ad, a mirror on the ceiling. After that they could've made a film for the internets that would have most certainly paid for the campaign costs. And perhaps some more ifv's.
I for once am quite pleased of the thought of global warming as the weather here in finland has been around -20 celcius for most of the winter. Longest winter in southern finland for 10 years if my überfail human memory doesn't utterly disappoint me again. Apparently some studies suggest that the Baltic would have a mediterranean climate within a 100-150 years. Awesome! that just means that if i change my life habits and my genetics don't fail me, i'd be able to retire at the baltic isles under olive trees without actually encountering a foreign culture! Bummer for the rest but one must after all look to himself first right? So all you globalwarming stoppers, get your coats, we don't serve you here.
