I lived in the outskirts of a major town in Kent, Ashford, I upgraded my 2mb line to "up to 8mb" I too found my broadband dropped to 0.5 if I was lucky and often dropped off the face of the internet.
If you can get vfast orbital, get it. I used this for over a year, and can confirm the experience I had was great, it was around £25 per month, but I didn't need a BT line, so I made a saving that way; cost of installation at the time was around £100. In fact the only reason I switched back to BT was because they promised FTTC was coming in the April, I wanted to be ready so switched over in March, a year later I finally had BT inifinity, which is moderately fast broadband. not 40mbps but a close 25-30mbps.
I would have gone for Cable, but that was only installed at the bottom of the hill I lived on so I couldn't get it.
You sir have failed, by your own admission; tethering to the wifi only device collects your location data sans GPS. (from the phone's connection)
This is a non-story, I confess I do not use maps on my iPad, I use my always on, always connected unlimited phone connection (which I can tether to the iPad).
I do not understand how or why lazy journalists pick up on non-stories like this, and presumably get paid to do so, without getting the facts / using the devices themselves.
I for one do not wish to take valuable space up on my iPad for offline maps which I'll never / very rarely use, and which will be out of date by the time I do get around to using them.
The always harped on maps fiasco, which most (probably 90%) of actual users are using purely to highlight the "amusing inaccuracies / collapsed bridges / spiky tahiti"
Please don't call it "Keith",
or "Dave" after Rodney,
as I would be compelled to purchase something from them.
I'd also pick "Je ne Regrette Rien" followed by "I can't get no satisfaction" and "why are we waiting" as their on hold music for customer services.
I wouldn't need a ringtone, as no service, no calls.
4 yo bought Angry birds on wife's iphone, he had asked for a free app prior to purchase, (after password is requested there is then a period where you can pick up any app without entering a password, this is limited, but obviously not fool proof. ) Fortunately for me, it was 59p and one that I liked, and was sitting on the fence prior to purchasing, the option to disable in app purchases isn't a great one, unless the iphone/ipod/ipad is 100% for kids use. but as he asked for the free app before hand i'm pretty sure he knew how this app store worked better than her.
Ok, after reading that i'm ready to defect to anyone offering an unlimited data plan.
Called up for my PAC; I'm guessing I'm not the only one either, as the annoyance of the customer service representative for dealing with another iphone PAC code defector was very evident.
I was told that "all operators are under contract to provide the same data conditions with Apple" I find this very difficult to believe. Well on the off chance I have my PAC code ready to order with whoever brings out their iphone unlimited data plan first. Alternatively I switched to simplicity iphone. They say anyone keeping their phone, or not changing their contract can maintain their unlmited data. So I for one am expecting either a data plan or, i'll be camping outside the apple shop for an unlocked phone and keep my simplicity plan.
In future, any customers who act in this childish way will be asked to behave properly or will be refused service.

Stone em ... surely that's a common tradition....
I can see it now,
All I said was this spotted dick was good enough for jahovah ...
ooh he said it again ...

I have not played GTA IV on the PS3; I did play GTA IV on the 360 for about an hour; and my main concern wasn’t the resolution; nor was it the excitement of smashing up my newest girlfriends’ car; without her even mentioning the event or yelling at me (something only achievable in the gaming world). It was the fact that I’ve played this game before … again and again and again … GTA was the only original game .. running down those Hare Krishna’s; There was just something cool about it. (I have not felt the need to run down a group of Hare Krishna’s in real life).
In reality if you have friends and they have a console; it’s probably the 360; if you don’t have any friends they would probably have a PS3.
I have all 3; (I Think I have friends, they all have 360’s; I thought said friends would come round and play; so I bought a Wii; turns out in fact I have no friends, so I bought a ps3.)
Network gaming is a real pain in the ass when it comes to the PS3 it’s great if you have no friends, as joining a random online is painless. But if you want to talk to them, or invite them to your game, it’s not going to happen; unless you and they are out of a game; or you give them a call and arrange it; harks back to PC days.
The 360, you are always online, in game, in movie (if you wish), you can invite or be invited to the game you or they are playing, and you can message in game, or chat in game.
Storage is another issue, 20GB (120GB if your lucky) or 40GB (bear in mind it’s simple to swap out the PS3 hard drive and slot in a 320GB baby no such luck with the 360).
In Essence don’t buy a console on the strength of a game that being said I bought a PS3 because I could import Rock Band before the UK got it; On the other other hand I did play WiiFit last night with some friends, and that was pretty good fun.

In the US he could have a defense to attempt or conspiracy to commit, of impossibility lets face it; it's not possible to kill Chuck Norris, so this kid is only guilty of stupidity....
He should be put in charge of education in Kansas .. .he'd get rid of Creationism, and instill norrisism
There is no theory of evolution. Just a list of creatures Chuck Norris has allowed to live.
Mines the pyjamas...
@fanboi w
is that all u can say about the sony offerings?
Love it or loath it, Sony's simple PS3+BluRay+PSP combo is a compelling and attractive straight-up consumer electronics proposition for many. Often wrapped in agreeable product design.
Sony = John Lewis?
blu ray = why the games don't require it; I will however be purchasing it primarily as a blu ray player, now my HD-DVD is soon to be obsolete
games are expensive; for the same technology as the 360, in some cases the games I have seen on the 360 and ps3 are smoother on the 360
sony = late why oh why oh why does nothing ever come out on time over here? and why does that time lapse / atlantic divide cost us financially too?
sony media centre = still not a patch on xbmc
I don't love xbox, in fact microsoft as a whole; but man am I addicted to those achievement points
and angelic BG cos of his millions of dollars he gives to those who need it more infinately than he you or I; but please if you do have too much please send some my way; (name and address supplied)
when did it become ok to take the mickey (mouse watch) out of the afflicted. We shouldn't lower ourselves to the low bullying tactics employed by the class bully. He has problems, he will overcome, look how much the albanians loved him.
It did however look like 90% of them were reaching for the watchless wrist, as if to say look dubya not noticed it yet .. At least he's welcome somewhere in the world.
Jack of all trades master of none?
Has he ever followed anything through?
the ipod, rather nice looking, great if you want to play a few albums; sucks with your entire collection in it, unless you are willing to select a single album to play every time; or setup playlists. I think they even hid my photos so I can't retrieve them.
iTV great, but why will I buy it when my XBMC still rules the roost; do everything XBMC does, and then i'll buy it. yes you can mod it, but it's either too hard, or tbh i can't be assed.
Iphone, my hermes looks just like one now. of course it won't take long to workaround their workarounds. but if it's like the iTV it will be too difficult for most; or just too long winded.
Safari, I've never used it, tbh i'm not likely to.
Imac, girlfriend says she still prefers to shave her legs.
the last completed thing i've seen was probably a mac ii, and even then there was something missing .....
Not only the price of the console; but with cheaper games £25-£35 on some sites. it knocks the other consoles for 6. In addition with the new games winging their way; paper mario, mario galaxy, strikers, golf, mario party. innovative games like cooking mama koorinpapa, trauma centre, big brain academy.
That's all well and good, but there's always someone that paintballs a lot, and brings their own ammunition, and or paint grenades etc...
although i'm sure there will be enough stag goers to take up the opposite side of the square and which would probably provide the best stag-do paintball outing ever. where do I sign up?
