I would be very happy with this.
Think people how many times have you had to make a call ?
I walk my dog in the country park near me every day and the idea that if my heart is giving me trouble that I would only have to manage to get the words heart attck out and then know help is on the way directly to me rather than having to try to explain to an operator who doesn't know the area where I am would be great. Its 180 acres in all in various fields and can be quiet for long periods.
As long as this is only on emergency calls then fine count me in.
So does my HTC 8X windows phone.
Must say I prefer the Nexus pale grey light though.
Then again as soon as this is availabel my mint nexus 4 and the HTC will be sold to but the 5......
Also notice no mention of the camera in the article that most others are making a big thing about being miles better than not only the current Nexus but pretty much anything else out there.....

You missed out Motorola, you have already had a story about Motorola looking to employ loads of ex BB engineers etc, it would make sence for them not Google to buy the phone patents plus possibly other technical parts, that would leave Google if they want to to buy up BBM etc to incorperate it into their Docs etc offerings, do this and then Android could be made into an intergrated system for business like BB has been up to now. That leaves QNX, most likely someone like Cisco would want that not only for itself but also for going into cars etc due to its security over other OS's, think about it QNX or Windows as the OS running your driverless car ? ? ?
Because Apple claim to inovate not stagnate.
They would need to create a completely new way of doing things and tile etc like iOS UI are already on most TV's......

OK so Apples plan must be to put iOS on a telly, thereby moving it from 20-30 old up to 5 years + old.
What is the point of an Apple Telly? A set top box with a small computer built in wiuld be more than enough.
Cheaper to make, cheaper to buy and more likely to sale as lets be honestthe update cycle on TV's is a lotlonger than on many other devices.
Its the political equivolent of the kid taking his ball home because no-one will do what he tells them.
It doesn't matter if everyone else is stopped from doing what they want all that matters is that they feel they are the most important.
There should be no way to stop government from continuing to work like they have now there should only be the right to stop changes to the budget ie cuts / increases until voted for.
That way government could carry on kicking the ball while the snotty kid sorts out his problems with a few others.....

If it was Apple (or Samsung etc) taking a major company to court for this they would look for hundreds of millions and not just a couple as it ended up, they would also be appealing this all the way to a billion dollars if possible.

Dear oh Dear, You sir sound like a typical Apple fanbois, This was announced by Apple as one of 2 new phones not as a continuation of lst years in a cheap body.
Therefore the story is correct that they would have announced figures normally and therefore calling into question if sales have been poor, this is the same concern of share holders who are selling.

I have just bought a teenage girl a Motorola Razr i as it was different from the rest and did all she wanted in a nice form factor.
The iPhone was concidered overpriced and old tech even with a new OS, the basic comment was "Pastel with Android stuff added". Samsung too much their own stuff added so it felt wrong.
The most important things were in order, easy to text, clear phone calls, does a small number of games and apps that are part of life.
This makes me more likely to go the Google Glass route than the smartwatch one.
Locked to a single manufacturer ? Who do they think they are ? Apple ?
We expect it from the fruity one. This is not a good move if you want to sale a lot of products, people arn't going to buy a Samsung phone just for the watch but they might have bought the watch if it worked with any Android device above a certain version say Jelly Bean and above.
Now when are those glass devices due again ? ? ?
Your complaining that a company that makes almost all its money from adverts gives out free of charge a browser that is updated more often than othersis used by that company to target ads at you the user ?

I've always wondered why people want to blame a small number of new arrivals to the American continent of wiping out larger life such as mamoths etc but where there are populations settled for many years such as Africa and India the Elephants etc survive.
OK they must have had an impact but Neandrothals plus Homo Sapiens failed over thousands of years to wipe out the larger animals in Europe.....

I have had cheap phones and worked up to better quality and now have a Nexus 4 due to price drop and an HTC 8X again due to price drop, I wanted a value for money phone so bought one, previously my backup was a Nokia 520, again bought for same reason.
At least unlike some here I have something to say about the article rather than about people posting opinions....

OOOooo look I can download this 1GB file in seconds.......shit there goes my allowance.....
I want 4G to stream stuff like movies and high quality music from my google play storage etc and to download stuff like navigation maps as required, I don't want a tarrif that eats through my data in a few days.
Three are the only ones who understand that data is what will count in the future, there is no way I will sign up for one of these crippled tarrifs, I will stick with three and the one plan, I can then spend the extra saved on a phone as part of the contract that will handle the speed.
Just because more people are selling a pile of dogs poo doesn't mean more will buy it.
MS made 2 mistakes, one was not putting these out to more retail outlets etc from the start, but the biggest and still biggest mistake is the price, if they want these to sale they must at least be at cost price with free windows for a period to get people to buy. They are not as bad as many who have never held one think but for the price I would go for a good laptop and a good tablet instead of the pro.....
With its one plan I have been able to give up my home phone line and broadband and use the mobile phone connection instead, on top of that as my phone is LTE and does 800MHz I will get the upgrade fr no more cost and still have all you can eat data.
Reading the BBC story O2 look like they may even be worst than EE on value for money unless you want extras like free music for a year.....
Apple and MS have an agreement that they won't sue each other.....
Therefore they can use each others ideas without worrying, its all down to the Google is the enemy thing.....
MS would have to put an Apple logo and call it an iPhone before Apple even bother to take notice.....

No wonder you posted as AC. These are perfect for the majority of people as they can browse almost all sites, email, and do light document work. For older people and those less technical they are the answer as there is no problem with updates, installing software, sorting drivers etc. And id you get one with SSD it books so fast you blink and miss it.
I have one for lugging round, add in a phone with a good data plan and you are covered for most if not all needs on the move.
Don't forget not many actually want to edit a magazine, film or 200 page word file on the train......
No iDon't, iCan't think of a single reason for an iWatch or similar device until it has all the video phone etc ability without batteries running out in less than 24 hours.....
Will this be a success ? iFor one don't think so, whats the point when you can just use the phone with a bigger screen....
I need a working phone on me at all times so have to have sims with 2 different operators.
That would mean 2 phones plus a tablet for when I don't want to use my glasses or want a better browser experience etc.
So I got one of these, have used it twice for phone when 3 signal dropped and its great for that, use internal sim for the web etc and have the bonus of hotspot on phone if no signal on it.
So for those of us that must have 2 sims to ensure we can call for help if needed then this is a great choice.
Oh and its as goog as the nexus IMHO plus feels better in the hand.
