That's the nice thing about these cases - even if it never goes to trial you can bankrupt the person with legal bills, they lose their business because you impounded everything electronic they own for 3years, and then after it's all dropped they are still on your system as a "suspected whatever" so get refused any sort of job that needs a police check.

There have been lots of cases where people have been rescued from the local mountains here or from boats where they couldn't get a phone signal. But since 911 can't do SMS they have had to text a friend and ask them to call 911

It absolutely makes sense from an energy point of view.

Instead of accelerating the vehicle through the dense lower atmosphere at huge speed/cost you gently lift it high enough for the second stage to work.

You also get to choose your launch position depending on what orbit you want - that's why the mothership has such large range.

The downside is the limited size/mass of the payload, mounting it so that it's safely held horizontally under gravity and then vertically under thrust and the extra complexity of the parent aircraft and it's crew

Many countries have no pubic domain - it's intended to protect authors.

With public domain you can always just take some work and say: "I thought it was public domain", where there is none you have to at least show some understanding that it did have an author - even if their rights have lapsed.

It's equivalent to compulsory voting - it seems pointless but makes it harder to prevent people exercising their rights.

But this isn't low value - the Eula contain permission for just about everything and they include the right to change the rules. You might have just agreed to them using all your customer data for marketing purposes for example.

If not you had no right to enter into a legal agreement with Adobe - you should have stopped and got a member of the board, and probably your company's legal council, to read and agree to the EULA before installing each update.

The value of the GPL is that it is a single licence and other people who DO understand this stuff have read and checked that there isn't a "we now own your children clause" and most FOSS users have a decent understanding of it.

The USA owns the domain name registry. So it could decide tomorrow to hand over all Iran's URLs to some American outfit - like it did with Iraq's. Then of course Iran would set up it's own root DNS so which site you got would depend on whose root DNS your ISP prefered. Then it would do the same for all those other axis-of-evil countries, and probably France.

The ITU was setup so that country's phone (and telegraph) systems would talk to each other. Suppose BT decided that instead of +98 being the country code for Iran it would use 98 for premium rate chat lines, France could decide to use +44 to give it some extra numbers.
