One original proposal was that after pushing back under driver control, with wing walkers, it would be controlled by the aircraft

The issue was that it needed modifications to all planes to be worth the airports investing which they wouldn't do until the aircraft were compatible, which needed Airbus and Boeing to agree.

The other problem, which this system also has to solve, is that the nose gear needed strengthening to tow at taxi speeds, and be able to stop in an emergency without break the gear off.

You could easily make it driverless. You just put a haul chain in a slot in the middle of the taxiway and have the and grab onto it.

Then it can tow the plane to the top of the first hill and let it drop down and take off.

The problem is that rail bridges can appear from nowhere so quickly that it's difficult to make an automated system to stop them in time

It's generally regarded that Israel's nuclear arms are to threaten the USA.

Israel gets into a conventional war with its neighbours. A USA administration vacillates (as in its support for Ukraine), Israel replies that it will have no alternative but to nuke Cairo, Amman, Istanbul, Bruxelles etc etc and draw the USSR whoever, into a global war.
