Their idea of resilient was a perfectly safe manual system which they switched to which worked but at a reduced capacity.
Obviously they could have spent more to reduce the risk of this very rare event - in the same way that we always build 3 identical motorways in parallel so we can switch traffic to a backup in the much more common occurrence of an RTA.

If they show Google.com in europe then it is a european site as far as european law is concerned. That it is hosted outside europe doesn't make it immune any more than pirate radio did or broadcasting illegal content from a Russian owned satelite would.
I assume Google is happy to take ad money when people outside the US click on google.com.
Not sure about that. Would you pay more for a flight on a plane that has made a successful test flight or is just being towed out of the factory?
We got a very good discount for Cluster to fly on the first Ariane V - that didn't work out too well.
The water landing also lets you land a rocket anywhere, you don't have to constrain your launches so that your return will be in the right place, or carry extra fuel to get there.
Eventually they will land back at base once the saving by retrieving them is enough and the customer can be more flexible on launch and payload - at the moment Nasa is their only, and inflexible, customer.
So you pay everyone the same benefit ( your tax-free allowance is basically benefits) and you make a huge saving by not having all the admin and economic incentive problems.
What about people who need extra help, do they still get more for disability, do people who need nursing care get it or does it all come out of their 15k year?
It's the same argument with flat tax. If we all paid a flat rate with no allowances, bands and loopholes you would raise the same amount paying 13% as we do now with 20%/40%. Except that assumes the billionaires would pay their 13%, which they wouldn't
Was made redundant after our company was bought by an asset stripper.
After paying 40% tax my dole claim was rejected (after 8 weeks) because I had started work on the 2nd of Jan so I didn't have enough full years. I applied for income support but didn't get it because I owned a house (or rather the bank did) so was asset-rich.
So I voted with my feet - it's nice here on the pacific coast.

Surely a few years ago it was even MORE likely to happen.
If Apple (allegedly) had deals with other silicon valley computer companies not to hire then the only place a disillusioned Apple insider (a pip?) could go would be outside the industry to someone like Tesla.
Now that the (alleged) deal is (allegedly) off - they can presumably get a job offer from all the other software companies so Telsa has to compete more strongly for hires.
They could just ask nicely, like they did with the cell phone companies.
Or they suggest that you might want to keep friendly with government purchasing depts
Or they suggest you might not want a tax audit
Or they simply turn up with lots of guns and some orange jumpsuits and suggest you comply

If it is just the .Net Compact Framework then there is very little point, I can do that on an Netduino already with 1 core and 256Mb of memory.
If they needed quad core and 1Gb it has to be a decent tablet-esque version with a display, network keyboard etc etc - even if it can't host visual studio 2013.
The point of the RPi was to get back to the BBC micro/Sinclair days when kids (who frequently knew more than the CS teachers) could play with the machines, have machines at home, discover things for themselves, break things and above all LEARN.
Now a combination of factors has led to useless IT lessons with students basically being told to fear the locked down Windows PCs and doing anything outside the lesson plan is at best a fail and worse cyber-terrorism.
Not all the kids will program in assembler or rewrite the kernel, but some will.

The raspberryPi was aimed at schools.
It was aimed at fixing the problem that CS in schools is now click on icon in Word to bold a word.
It was aimed at the; it is a offense to touch the school PCs without explicit permission, it is a violation of the schools service contract to do anything on the PCs not aligned with keystage 2 subsection 3 para 4 of the people's central curriculum.
So Microsoft make a few phone calls to their friends in government to "develop enhanced curriculum support" - and all those Pi in schools are suddenly limited to running Internet Explorer to access Office365 to click on an icon in Word ....
Office and Server - same place they always got money.
The only thing that has changed is that somebody has realised that if everyone starts running this cloudy free stuff then sales of Office and Server sales might be hit so we have to do something to compete / dump freebies to protect our monopoly on the desktop.
The fip side of no-byod is that if you want me to receive company email or phone calls when I'm not in the office then you issue me with a company device.
If you expect me to carry a company device then I am on-call, and I am getting paid for on-call time or I'm getting time off in lieu
