I remember schools in the 80s when we managed with a pen and paper register. It operated on bio-metrics and a 2-factor challenge-response protocol of: read out names in order, to a chorus of "yes miss" or "yes sir" (we even had pronouns back then)

So if you build a car in the USA, you pay USA labo(u)r rates, you pay 50% more for the steel and Canadian aluminium (and you have to spell it correctly), you pay 50% more for the Brazillian copper and rubber and Infinity% more for the Chinese magnets and electronics. Or you can build the cart in Japan or S. Korea and import it with a 15% tariff.

I studied Physics and Maths not economics so I might be missing something.

Of course that does mean you will have a car built by those slap-dash Japanese workers, rather than Alabama's finest automotive engineers. But I don't think such racism could possibly be a factor in American marketing.

Launching stuff to orbit isn't NASA's job. That's what United Launch Alliance do, having a government agency do it would be communism. A monopoly cartel of all US space+defense companies providing services to the government is the only free-market efficient solution.
