I assume that if you press shuffle on a Pink Floyd album the computer does a hard reset out of pure shame.

You can either use the Linux install that you don't understand but is something complicated to do with hackers, or you can use Windows(TM) along with all this educational support material produced by Microsoft(TM) and their Official Educational Support Unit (TM) in accordance with national curriculum standards.
Is the teacher who falls for this going to go - aha but windows10 IoT preview isn't really the same core API as windows on the desktop, I am being fooled by the Microsoft name linked to a bunch of fake educational material. Or do I just click on the use windows box and get the same IE Window that is shown in the teachers manual.

Because the RPi is aimed at schools. Schools, non-computer teachers and support providers "know" windows.
So instead of having this new scary Linux thing just install W10, use IE to connect to a website showing you a picture of what a science experiment would look like if you ever did one and WOW - you have increased the number of computers in school, taught everyone computer science and are now teaching them chemistry at the same time.

But it has had a bit of a backlash - the news is full of groups of photogenically news friendly 21 year olds who just graduated with degrees in oilfield geology/offshore engineering/etc and none of the class received any job offers.
Here in Canada they are being laid off as mining/oil projects are mothballed. The normal last-in first out means that most of the people kicked out are recent/new grads, which means more women, so the news is full of how women in STEM are the most likely to be dumped.
Visa waiver is for business or tourism, if you are form a visa waiver country (eg UK) it is quite hard to get a business visa - which means that any visit to a customer is always a crap shoot if they will let you in.
If it does apply then a bunch of people in the security/oil/engineering businesses that have been to Iraq would be banned, along with a lot of journalists and news crews. On the plus side, presumably Bush/Cheney/Blair will also be banned.

If they don't support Apple they tell a billion potential customers that an Android phone will hand over your data to the cops but an Apple one won't.
Especially interesting if you are a phone customer in China, Russia, Iran, most of Africa etc
The ultimate sacrifice would be to move Apple HQ to Switzerland and take $gazillion out of the US economy. Then have Microsoft, Google, Facebook etc follow suit when they are ordered to do the same thing.
