Security bug bites 64-bit Windows 7

There's a lot of reasons people upgrade to W7 from XP (and Vista ofc)

Super secret new iPhone or not... It's still JUST A PHONE!!! lol

Honestly a bit overkill if you ask me

Don't try to sleep with your iPad, doctor warns

rcdicky

Hmmmm...

I read my Sony eReader in bed at the moment with a bedside lamp on and manage to get to sleep OK (bedside lamp is pretty close to me)

Surely this is no different?

Still negative press is still press. Apple are loving all of this I'm sure.

I'm just waiting for some drunk Apple employee to leave the next-gen iPad in my local boozer...

Cops raid Gizmodo editor in pursuit of iPhone 4G 'felony'

rcdicky
Stop

Hmmmm...

Thing is, from what I've read 'sour grapes on apples part' doesn't apply here, seems the police are taking it upon themselves to investigate without instruction from Apple. I've certainly not read Jobs/Apple having any involvement in this other than to ask for the phone back (which I'd have thought they had by now)

As for Chen being slated for naming the guy who lost the phone, so what. The guy deserved it IMO, you take something that valuable to a birthday bash, get drunk and leave it behind? That's just dumb. There's no way he should have taken it out with him. And really, as if Apple wasn't going to find out who lost it anyway. I imagine they're on a VERY tightly controlled list, one not being checked in at some point is going to raise eyebrows straight away, so he was going to be found out anyway...

I just think this has been blown out of all proportion, criminal activity or not. It's a phone for crying out loud, is it really worth kicking down his door and raiding his office?

Arrest the guy sure, but this all seems a bit heavy handed to me...

Android on an iPhone? There's an app for that

Why do people...

feel the need to resort to insulting others just for having an iPhone.

Fact is, what the iPhone DOES do, it does well.

I've had Android before and it's good, really good actually. I just prefer my iPhone, can't see why that makes me an iTard...

Just grow up and accept that these two products exist and are both doing well

Microsoft wants pacemaker password tattoos

rcdicky

I think it's quite creepy...

That this even needs to be considered.

Having to encrypt someone's pacemaker in case it's hacked and shut down is a horrifying thought.

Though unlikely to happen in real life, we can't say for cetain that it won't so the need for encryption/passwords is certainly there.

Not so sure a tattoo is the best way to go about it though :S

Either a standard bracelet, or possibly even an RSA bracelet would be a better option? At least then the password is going to change every 60 seconds or so?

Jobs to iPad skeptic: 'Are you nuts?'

rcdicky

No-one has posted a comment...

with the word fanboi in it yet either...

Just doesn't seem like a true iPad article without it :P

Shame it's been delayed though, as much as I don't need one, I still want one.

Isn't that what gadgets are all about really? I mean who genuinly needs a USB rocket launcher?

Adobe to sue Apple 'within weeks,' says report

rcdicky
Flame

Is anyone else getting a bit bored of this now?

Surely it's up to Apple what it wants to run on it's own hardware?

I quite liked the idea of Adobe pulling all of it's products from Mac though, now that WOULD light a few fires wouldn't it? :D

As for the poor developers being locked in. Poor them eh? Haven't a lot of people who've written apps/games etc made quite a bit of money from releasing apps on the iPhone?

From what I can see, it's a fairly easy way of getting a product out there. Even though sometimes they have to jump through a few Apple approval hoops, it's still quite straightforward.

Sony PlayStation Move: your questions answered

Seems a shame that...

You can only connect 4 devices. So 2 people will only be able to play if you're using the main and subcontroller for a game.

That's one of the Wii's biggest points, having four people jumping about at the same time...

Saying that, when I bought my Wii, I initially only had one Wiimote and one Nunchuck and just passed that around...

I'll still be buying it I reckon - Still looks pretty decent

Virgin to offer 100Mb/s broadband by year's end

rcdicky
Stop

Honestly

Might be worth people checking stuff out before slagging off Virgin.

I've been on the 50Mb package since launch and other than one day when I had no connection due to an outage in my area (and it only lasted a couple of hours) I always get at least 46Mb/s, at any time of the day.

Is that not better than advertising up to 8Mb/s and only getting 1-2/Mb/s?

There is also NO traffic shaping on the 50Mb package and though they've said they may bring something in in the future, they haven't yet so can only assume it'll be the same on the 100Mb service.

This is no diefferent. Who cares if they release a newer model next year with more features.

Don't most companies operate in the same way?

Don't point the finger at Apple just because you can.

I'll probably buy one and I don't count myself as gullible, but then I've no use for a front facing camera so it doesn't phase me much

It wouldn't suprise me if they didn't explain the charges of using it oversees.

Yes, he should have checked but I'd say Orange are more in the wrong for not explaining it.

£8K is mental, and as someone above says it'll have been used on Oranges network. Should they even class that as roaming?

I'd have thought the reason things cost more abroad is because the home network has to pay the Roaming network to use their network, but when both companies are owned by the same people...

Windows 7 RC 'buy a copy' shut downs start next month

rcdicky
WTF?

Are you kidding or what?

M$ clearly stated last year when the RC was released that this would happen.

Anyone surprised by this should seriously not download RC's in the future...

The more than generous testing period has ended. Backup your data and but Win7 or naff off to your free OS.

Stop whinging seriously...

Jeez

"So I lose all my tweaks and configuration and the entire look/feel that I spent ages setting up since last July when I installed Win7 RC on my laptop??"

In a word YES - Knowing about this well in advance, I can't believe you're now complaining that it's actually coming into effect...

Don't install an RC in the future and invest so heavily in 'tweaking' it if you can't handle the end result.

I bet you complain about bugs when Beta testing games...

New music file aims to sink piracy using blogs and Twitter

rcdicky
Flame

Hmmm

Pretty strange one this isn't it?

Unless I'm missing something iTunes already gets the album artwork for me... Yes it's a bit anal, but I quite like my music having it's artwork.

I don't know the techy stuff around it, but the end result is the same.

Lyrics/Tour dates etc can all be found online, can't imagine people are that fussed about having them on their mp3 players? Oh, and can't most mp3 players handle lyrics already?

And it not being superior sound to mp3 seems a bit strange. Whatever happened to mp3hd, which supposedly does have better sound?

Even if mp3hd doesn't/didn't take off there's always FLAC (yeah, the files are massive but so's my PC's hard drive ;) )

I feel like I'm probably missing the point, but from what I can see mp3 already does what this claims to do??

A slate by any other name...

Honestly guys who cares what they're called, and who invented those names first?

Does it really matter?

As much as I'm impressed with the tech side of the lenovo Tabslate (hoping I've coined this 1st) I can't see any real use for it. Maybe my imagination is a bit limited yeah I know...

Still, pretty cool. Well done Lenovo, might want to sort out the lag before launch though

Flash - and not the app!!!

Only thing I REALLY want to see on the next one is a real flash for the camera!

Don't think they need to up the mega-pixel at all tbh - as ppl have pointed out above, the only thing ppl really use their phone camera for is drunken pics uploaded to facebook. Which the current (3.2MP on the 3GS aint it?) is more than enough for.

So a real flash please, not a retina burning LED either lol. Dark pub/club + LED Flash = Epic squinting

Personally Looking forward to it coming

Most likely I can't afford one though, and even if the screen is cracked it's still gonna look nice lol

Can't say I agree with the posts about Apple getting it right 1st time though...

Usually takes a few revisions before getting it right (and the iPhone is almost there now!!)

Keep the rumour/tid-bit fact articles coming Reg, if others aren't interested in what this could be they shouldn't be reading!
