NHS fights record £325k ICO fine after clap records appear on eBay

World+Dog to demand ever larger tablet-phones

Re: Big and small?

You should perhaps try a Galaxy S3 in a store when it finally ships. It's supposedly not much larger than the S2, but with a 4.8" screen. The S2 is thin enough to fit in most pockets, and I guess the S3 will too.

My experience is that thickness matters a lot more than width/length.

Yamaha RX-V471 5.1 AV receiver

... Why should a receiver support FLAC? That's the job of the media player.

There are only a few thing a good receiver actually do need:

Good sound quality, enough power to drive your speakers, and support for the more common surround formats.

Re: @Mouse

"the key is that you have to show that the GPL code can stand alone and separate from the ASF code, and vice-versa."

Show me where it says so. You can have a different license for every single little piece of code if you want to, however you cannot compile GPL'd code into a project using the ASF license. The other way around shouldn't be a problem.

Having ASF-licensed kernel modules running under a GPL'd kernel is *not* a problem, and you do *not* need to release the source code for those modules.

Having an ASF-licensed user space on top of a GPL'd kernel is *not* a problem either.

Re: And

"2. No one seems to have addressed the small matter that if these patents are so good, why is Moto getting sued anyway?"

If noone else will, maybe I can?

It's called "not giving up without a fight". From what I've read (IANAL and all that), the Moto patents may have some merit. The Apple patents may or may not have merit, but that doesn't stop Apple from trying to hit at Moto as hard as they can. Apple hopes that if they lose, then Moto will *also* lose a patent fight and that makes it easier to negotiate an agreement and lessen the impact of their own loss.
