Perfect Storm
As a mere ordinary member of the public with very limited knowledge of computing, I see Cloud Computing as an end to steal the business of billions of vendors, service engineers and software writers world wide.
To succeed, the ultimate cloud needs the worlds population to be using it in a Google like fashion. Perhaps spending an extra small percentage on top of their ISP fee each year to be cloud connected.
People will no longer require shops to purchase any software and will no longer need to update anything. The average Joe will no longer have any interest in how anything works and will no longer learn anything from what they are doing with computers when updating hardware/software and making it all work. The average user will be dumbed down to just email and browsing.
The whole world of computer technology exists only because the individual has their very own identity to offer original input to every aspect. If all anyone needs is a simple drone machine to access the cloud where all software and hardware development is controlled by a few rich people trying to grab the last penny in the pot for themselves, then their greed will destroy the world.
A super cloud can only bring a super storm and it will reek havoc and devastation on everyone and everything, especially if the hackers try to seed it, we could all end up to our necks in Bing.
