For avoidance of espionage/paranoia, wouldn't it be cheaper to abandon wi-fi & just run cable throughout your house? There must be a point where this is the cheaper option.

No-one seems to have spotted the coded warning about the possibility of Big Lime-green Monsters being "triggered" (i.e. emerging from a newly-opened Portal to the Other Side).

Looks like a cry for help from one of the LHC staff, who knows what's _really_ going on in there, and has decided to tell the world before it all gets out of hand.

They haven't moved from .net to Linux yet...

The LSE are going to move over to a Linux/Solaris platform (see tinyurl.com/yauqcdk), but it takes more than a few days/weeks to transfer a system of that size over to a new platform and adequately test it. I'd give it a year before it's fully up & running, more if the LSE start asking for design changes during the implementation phase :-)
