At least we don’t have to Euronate any more!

I remember fondly counting out numbers of parentheses in complicated formulas, you only needed to be one out and the logic didn’t work work, and the program would generate an error. Was a bugger going through the whole page working out which formula had the missing (or indeed extra) bracket!
A lot of comments about old tech.
I maintain iPhones 3GS and a 4 as music players on dock speakers (plus their default apps are useful around the home), a 5S as a sat nav on my bike, a 7 as a backup and two 8’s for everyday use (personal and work). The 7 and one of the 8’s are 256 GB to boot so store all my stuff.
Plus with an iPod nano I use as a wristwatch (Animal face!), an iPod touch for playing music in the car and two iPads, a mini and an Air, I feel tooled up as much as I think I need to be, and all for a few PAYG SIM’s.
I think people get obsessed with the ‘latest and greatest’ when the ‘older and retired’ are just fine.
Actually, that just about sums *me* up! :-D
I’ve been using GB & Parks iOS app for years, specifically for offline use of OS maps at 1:50k and 1:25k, and it is brilliant, never had any problem with it (and after a considerable amount of hill walking).
The only frustration are the maps themselves where public rights of way and bridleway overlays quite often do not match the base map or the ground.
Mind you, getting a reality augmented selfie with Alfred Wainright, Hugh Munro, or perhaps even Muriel Gray, could be an interesting diversion during a particularly tedious bog trudge!
I use cruise all the time and have got very used to it.
The control also has a rapid +/- 5 mph function which makes speeding up and slowing down rapidly a real controlled option, especially as the latter presses the brakes as well if you go down very rapidly. It’s really no different to hand controlled throttles in other vehicle types such as those adapted for accessiblility or, indeed, motorcycles.
Of course you gave to be ready to take full control at an instant’s notice if needed, so full diligence is still and always required. The dangerous bit is the leaning curve until your neural networks are fully adapted.
