25 years of Delphi and no Oracle in sight: Not a Visual Basic killer but hard to kill

I'm Glad Someone Remembers C++ Builder

I did a bunch of (IMHO) really good work in Delphi when it first came out, replacing previous apps written in VB. It was a revelation at the time, dropping that awful BASIC dialect, but my heart definitely belonged to C++ at the time.

When C++ Builder came around I jumped across quickly, and it was my go-to tool for many years until I moved entirely to Linux at home and lost the ability to choose my own dev tools at work.

Re: Not surprising

Huh, I like Sabbat but I've never heard Walkyier do anything other than harsh death-style vocals (except that one interlude on Dreamweaver).

Non-Removable Battery == Downgrade

I've been cautiously eyeing-up an LG since the battery went flaky in my Sony Z3 purely because LG were the only manufacturer to continue with replaceable batteries after everyone else started sealing theirs in.

Now, it rather looks like they have screwed the pooch on the only USP they had which made me interested. I guess I could always get last year's model... :(

It's absurd that these "flagship" phones have components which don't even last the length of a typical contract, let alone make it very difficult to replace the bits which fail.

Everyone is losing sight of the main problem here.

Thumb Down

Stable - unless you use an SSD running ext4.

I upgraded from 6 and the new kernel introduced a bug which messes up ext4 file systems on SSDs under load (such as apt-get upgrade of more than a few packages - ouch). I even went to the trouble of pulling a 3.8 kernel from unstable to try to fix the issue but it was still happening so today I had to migrate the drive over to XFS to try to make it functional again. Early indications are good, but I'm still testing...

So, not-entirely-stable especially with the *default* file system.

Well, I for one...

...really want a version of this for my Asus Transformer, it's like a little (very high-res) netbook anyway with the keyboard docked. The thing's a bugger to unlock though...

"One molecule different"?

What the heck is that supposed to mean? Let's not use the example using the closely related carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, we have a whole molecule to play with! Water is one molecule different from aspirin, which is one molecule different from methane. Let's arrest everyone who has drunk a coke - after all sugar is just one molecule different from a banned substance...

Missing option

I saw this on a poster and thought they might do better to include the rather obviously missing option of "probably not".
