I received this comment from one of them in 2016 : "It’s time for people to understand that government USA bunch of lying devils. Trust God and Trump in that order. God is using President Trump to expose the truth about these lying devils like God used Noah, Moses and Abraham."

Some years back "Politicians left and right" were reasonably well mannered and then Trump bulldozed in with his abusive rhetoric, not only to his political opponents but also to his hand picked bestest advisers and experts in the word when they refused to go along with his lies.
Similarly with the Tories in the UK with the ERG leading the way.
I used to have some hope, but no longer.

Don't be daft. Been around since before that, and not only in the UK. Socialism lifted the PRC from a poverty stricken country to the 2nd strongest world economy.
Socialist policies have saved all so called capitalist economies.
Any thinking person is aware that neither capitalism nor socialism have worked in isolation but a combination of the two works. Some of the most successful economies are the Scandinavian ones. The UK's best assets were socialist driven but Thatcher sold them off and the NHS is now under threat from the loonies in the Tory Party.

Quite. I posted those quotes to debunk the claims made in the editorial, such as "casting doubts over Alibaba's prospects." when it is SoftBank that has the problems.

Alternatively it may have been entirely due to SoftBank wanting to post a profit.

Softbank sold its entire Uber holdings and was reported to have exited Opendoor.
So, seems it needed cash and Alibaba fit the bill.
