The Windows 8 dilemma: Win 8 or wait for 9?

Real people don't know how to use Windows.
They just want to know where to wave the mouse, when to click and which mouse button to click.
The other 1% (ie us) know how to work our computers regardless of which OS it runs.
To tell if your workforce is ready for Windows 8, try this. Move the taskbar to the right-hand side and see how long it takes for them to figure it out.
If its more than 10secs. They're not ready.
If it takes you more than 5secs to figure out how to do this. You're just playing at IT.

Google is trying to do the right thing.
Software and 3rd party developers would enjoy a far superior and cheaper platform. Users would be able to pick up any Tablet and just use it.
Hardware Tablet developers would just have to concentrate on hardware design and not be bogged down by software fluff that may impress a corporate CEO but means nothing to their customers.
Let's get back to hardware reliability and leave the software fixing to the people who care about fixing that.
Surely everyone benefits?
Och aye! It's the Loch Ness Monster – but only Apple fanbois can see it

Due to the shape of the loch (you don't call them lakes laddie!) it is common to see dark standing waves on the surface long after the ferry and other leisure boats have gone past. The water is always murky as its full of peat particles and floating trees that have been blown down in storms.

Windows 8 BREAKS ITSELF after system restores

Re: Is Windows 8 fundamentally broken?
Windows 8 is just fine. I don't know what all the fuss is about.
I've used computers since the Cambridge Mk 14. So I'm well used to using all OSs across all hardware patterns.
People would tell me how wonderful XP was. But it had such a horrible USB stack. I lost count of times it would mess up and don't get me started on its lanmanger system. Awful!
Windows 7 was a welcome improvement. But Windows 8 is even better.
People just need to get their 'finger' out and adapt.
(Oh and read up on how to use it might not be a bad idea?)

Yes, the BBC still uses FTP. And yes, a Russian crook hacked the server
I love it when Hackers try to get access to my FTP server.
They always try 'root' or 'admin'. As if I'd be so stupid.
I also change the welcome message so they think it's an ancient Server running ancient code.
