Just been to www.openreach.com and there is the following message "Sorry, the Openreach Portal is currently unavailable due to unplanned maintenance activities. We aim to restore service as soon as possible. Please try again later."

Been down in Letchworth since 14:45 hrs and still down. It went down in South Bedfordshire at about 15:30 hrs and has just come back up at 17:00 hrs.

Yes, the service is provided by BT and billed by Orange (EE).

Although, I am not a fan of Microsoft, at least they only have a limited range of operating systems that they support for a reasonable time. The android methodology seems to be to only support an os for a few months; my phone is on a version of android that is three years old, there have been at least three releases of android since my last update and my version does not support all the latest applications.

This partly due to phone manufacturers heavily customising the android os, but does not help the end user. I know that I can root my phone and install the latest version of android, but why should I need to. Would I really want to do this on a car costing £15K to £20K, when if something goes wrong it could brick it?

If you believe that you'll believe anything. The credit bureaux look at a whole raft of things to decide your credit rating! You could be a millionaire, but if you don't have a credit card or had a recent loan, you'll have a poor credit rating and would not get a loan. This was a recent newspaper article about a lottery winner who could not get a buy to let mortgage.

I've been advised that my panel is fibre enabled, but if I sign up for fibre my speed will drop from 5Mbps to 2.5Mbps!

You would be surprised, I went to the very north of Scotland for my holiday this year, and they are installing mile upon mile of fibre to areas that are very sparsely populated.

I live 40 miles north of London and get 5Mbps on a good day.

The front seats have a lot of leg room and although I normally have my seat right back, I can drive it safely with the seat further forward and room for a small/meduim adult behind me.

A lorry where my wife works was in serious traffic accident (but it was not damaged) it impounded by the police outside for 12 months and was worthless when they got it back. So, this just doesn't apply to IT equipment.

I've only been using Avira a few weeks and have found it to be quite good, although I have had 1 false positive. I will give MS Security Essentials a try to see what it is like.
