How practical is an electric car in London?

Paul2724

Re: On Street Parking

That's a myth - Google "ev pollution generated by electricity for charging"

Despite the source http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_car#Air_pollution_and_carbon_emissions is pretty good. The actual results vary greatly depending on what mix of power stations is used, but remember these are 1st Gen EVs (things will only get better as the tech matures) and most countries are looking to reduce their electricity grid's CO2 emissions over time. And already EVs are mostly better overall...

Great on the Asus Transformer - not sure I'd want to try this on a phone - I'd consider it mostly for tablets

Very cool but...

Before we all get too excited - where in there did it even imply that was "in game footage" ? Fancy CGI is all very well (and its a cool clip)..... but I'm not letting myself get my hopes too high for this one, the industry's been churning out too much rubbish of late... I so hope I'm wrong :)

At todays prices....

A quick search online shows the Retail Prices Index was 78.3 in 1981 - in 2010 it was 228.4.

That makes the £49 equivalent to £143 at today's prices - or the £69 pre built for about £201.

Memories - lots of them and glad to see so many of 'us' still around - also lmao at the 'old arguments' about who's was best resurfacing after all these years :D

I agree with the OP

I am also in the 'I want my phone to just be a phone' camp.... I carry a WinMo6 PDA (very nice HP iPaq) around with me that does all the 'Pocket PC' stuff like eBook reading, mobile video player, picture and document viewer as well as email and web browsing. Its far better at all those functions than any 'smartphone' I've tried (and yes I have tried a Jesus phone - didn't like it). And it multitasks :P

The main problem with smartphones is they are just physically too small to do the 'Pocket PC' stuff well enough for my liking. To make them big enough to do that they become too big to be a good phone - I don't see this problem going away anytime soon...

My phone is the most basic I could find that had the ability to give internet connectivity to my PDA when I don't have access to Wi-Fi.

2007 compatabilty - not !

Been having some issues lately with a number of xlsx files prepared by a client - they all open just fine in 2007 but 2007 refuses to convert them to xls format (I think its because its full of conditional formats) and what comes out of the convertor installed in 2003 is no use to anyone.

Just tried OO 3.2 and guess what - hangs trying to open them....
