You forgot the most important question
If Von Tetzchner has such a strife with Google and Microsoft, he should have put one feature above all others in the company's roadmap: developing support for Manifest V2 extensions and a standalone MV2 extension store. Google has announced its end of life YEARS ago at this point, and it's now approaching in the next 4 months. Brave has already promised to at least TRY supporting V2 into the future. Vivaldi has NOT.
So Jon is nothing but a big coward and liar. He let his previous company - Opera - become a Chinese spy operation, and now he's turning Vivaldi into a glorified Google Chrome. We DON'T NEED that. What we need is an independent browser that relies LESS on Google. Not more - V2 extensions, separate rendering engine, ANYTHING actually USEFUL. If Von Tetzchner can not deliver that, then his company has lost its raison d'être.
