That's cold: This is how our boss told us our jobs are at risk, staffers claim

Many do this

This colour based way of knowing your future is not new. One French owned fruity named mobile operator did this all the time. Every 3 months we were called to a meeting, all told at exactly the same time in front of everyone via a power point if you were in or out of a job. Red out, Orange (ironic) at risk, Green no change. Sometimes names were not even on the slide because they forgot about that department. After about 9 months lots of new positions arrived on the slides and after being made redundant people started coming back....sheer madness

Microsoft tests show no Win 7 battery flaw

mkc
WTF?

They lie

I understand that Win7 may draw more power to do the same things as Vista. But if I switch off all the fancy stuff in Win7 and plug in so my battery gets 100% charge, the charge vanishes in minutes, I get the Consider replacing yoru battery pop up and then the laptop shuts off.

If I reinstall Vista again the battery lasts for hours, how can simple things in Win7, like just running the OS and a Web Browser draw the battery to empty in minutes? How are netbooks coping that have smaller batteries?

Thumb Down

My Fujitsu Lifebook E series does this

"We recommend that you replace your battery", then goes from 100% to 20% within minutes and then shuts off . Was fine with Vista before the "upgrade" to Windows 7. My laptop has to be plugged in all the time now.

Drop in store

I can see them having queues of people outside. People wanting a refund for their faulty software or just people wanting "support" on products.

Seriously, what will they be selling?
