Google skids car insurance comparison engine onto rivals' lawn

Think you've hit the nail on the head...there all complaining google might be evil with your information. But I don't think I've ever received any spam or anything as a result of using a google service!?!

Put your telephone number into GoCompare or MoneySupermarket or whatever and you get calls / emails within minutes and then for the next few years!!

So google know there is a wifi point named "uj47dj2n3" on my street, wow lucky them?? If it helps improves the navigation on phones then great.

Not sure what other world dominating things they can do with that, I'm sure Dr Evil didn't need SSID's

Google's Wi-Fi snoop nabbed passwords and emails

RE: how did it get the passwords?

If you read it, it didn't specifically say what sort of passwords. A LOT of websites don't use encryption....even el reg. When you login to el reg to submit your comment your password is sent in plain text over your wi-fi connection and all the way to the el-reg servers. Anyone snooping at any point will see you password in plain text. This is what I assume they are referring to....

As long as google haven't actually used the data and is making sure its wiped from the face of this earth...I'm not bothered tbh!

RE: You need to hang on a little longer with the others

Thank you!! what I was alluding to, but I'm an "idiot" so didn't say it

hang on a minute...

hang on a minute...Surely the onus is on the person with the unsecured network? If you have an open wifi network you might as well be shouting down the street "I'm just putting my private letters and bank statements in the bin unshredded, come take a look". I'm sorry but I don't think they've done anything wrong, if anything they've helped highlight how many people are using unsecure networks and should steer them in the right direction.

If you leave your wifi network unsecured its your own fault...they haven't done anything that anyone else couldn't do as they walk around the streets with a laptop and a linux build

Jobs Halo

not bad!

So if they've sold 500,000 thats at least!!! $249,500,000 so probably nearly the $270,000,000 mark. Not a bad profit, over $100,000,000 if you go by the $260 build price rumours

T-Orange merger approved

RE: Bad news

Orrr it could drive costs down, with T-Mobile and Orange merging systems, RAN, staff etc they will save hundreds of millions, so in theory this will be passed onto the customer?

Orange teases with HTC Desire debut

RE: T-Mobile...

Orange put it on because it actually makes sense...most people aren't that "tech savvy" and a common interface actually makes things easier for a lot of people.

However I do agree that you should be able to disable it and just use the normal software!

ooooooook

regarding the presentation, common business sense here.....don't use a laptop you use for work for personal usage!?! There are a few more security issues here rather than a porn url popping up.

I personally think its a good feature but then again I don't have things to hide and if I did then I wouldn't bookmark them lol
