'the Micro USB port still doesn’t support On-The-Go USB hosting' - my Nexus 7 v1 supports it quite happily, all I had to do was root it and install Stickmount to enable the host function.
Root can be had through a one-click piece of software available for free on XDA forum, and Stickmount is available for free on the Play store.

I know plenty of people who having been unquestioningly loyal Nokia customers for a decade or more stopped buying Nokia phones because of the change to WP - most of them would buy a Nokia again without a second thought if they could get a better OS, be it 'Droid or whatever - pinching customers back from Sammy would be like take candy off a baby.

It's not necessarily cheaper, there IS just as much to go wrong, it takes up twice the space and requires a computer in the middle just to do a photocopy
I've seen a couple.
Out of the 12 guys in my engineering workshop two bought WP devices (bar one iPhone user the rest all have 'droids).
One returned his as he didn't like WP compared to iOS, and the other now has a Lumia shaped brick (it wont charge or power up anymore) and has replaced it with a shiny new HTC One.

By that reasoning alone they are not better than Android or Apple products - just another under-supported product line from MS, which judging by recent comments from Nokia senior execs is exactly the same state of affairs as WP8.

Since when has a product's price implied it's expected length of working life?
In high-end smartphone terms it's irrelevant anyway, as most top-end handsets are superseded by a new model in a 1yr to 18months, out of production within 2 yrs, and flogged on at knock down prices on ebay within 3yrs.
I'd still rather use my GF's Sony Xperia Tipo than this handset TBH.
At 80 quid it must fall into the landfill category - but it jogs along very nicely running ICS out of the box, has 4 gig built in storage plus SD slot. No issues with any apps that we've chucked at it from Co-Pilot to Quick Office to RemoteDroid, plus the mundane ebay, Facebook etc etc, and has a quoted standby time of around 20 days.
Plus, there's always the option to Root it and chuck a custom ROM on.
How about use CLASSIC SHELL to replace the missing start button and menu?
Why so much gnashing of teeth? Microsoft fucked up and is looking like backtracking. Why wait for them when someone else has already stepped into the void with a free application that remedies it pretty fucking well, here, now, today, for free!
Use it to get rid of lots of the irritating Metro UI aspects - to the point that you'd hardly realise that Win8 was plaguing your hardware.

At least on Android there is no shortage of custom ROMS to keep your handset pretty much up to date once the manufacturer stops offering updates.
Sammy turned their back on my Galaxy W almost immediately - however, thanks to Arco68 and the Cyanogenmod team my handset has already had ICS and is now running JB with full-on Project Butter smoothness.

I guess you've not used the sync option in Chrome on a 'droid before - which amazingly allows you to access the tabs open on other devices you are running Chrome on from the one you are currently using.
While St Steve may have determined which apps an iUser WILL use for particular functions, Google on the other hand, didn't. Therefore I use MY choice of app (in this case SugarSync) to launch my photos (and any other files I want, for that matter) into the cloud automatically, on the fly (3g or wifi) which once again, by some form of robot magic, allows me instant access and sharing from any other device running the Sugarsync client, or through the web portal if the client isn't installed.
So very simple, a child could do it..........
Yep, common complaint about the 5510 is skewed print - some people have 3 or 4 exchange units to get a good one.
Some of the HP AIOs don't retain the wi-fi password if the power is disconnected - okay if you are only using a 8 char wifi password, a total fucking nightmare if you are using a 504bit one.......
Sorry but should have looked at the price of replacement consumables when buying the printer, my HP B110 AIO was 40 quid to buy and a full set of inks (genuine) is sub 20 quid delivered, and occassionally on offer at two set for 30 quid.
If your printer won't do black only with empty colour cartridges then it could be that it is 'making' black from the colour inks at least part of the time (i've seen both deskjets and officejets making black from the colour carts when doing just a self-test page with a complete new set of inks fitted) - mucho expensivo!!!
It's not an error as such but a maintenance warning, which means the device ceases printing and needs to be serviced in order for it not to piss ink everywhere (not usually a cost effective job compared to the value of must home user models, unless you want to buy the parts and get blathered in ink doing it yourself)
The ink pads in the bottom of the unit that collect the purged ink become saturated and require replacement and the unit to be reset once the factory pre-set page count is reached.
Brilliant eh?
HP cartridges are by and large going the way of Epson, where only the ink tank is replaced, not the full printhead as it allows for far cheaper replacement consumables.
I can get a full set of inks for my current HP B110 AIO for less money than than just the replacement black used to cost for my DeskJet 970cxi (never used compatibles/refills as they are ALL crap in the long run compared to new and genuine)
Without the trojan Elop on board, Nokia could turn to churning out some sexy looking droids and start raking a few quid back in without too much bother - Samsung manage to do it with possibly the most mundane looking range of handsets, and lets face it Nokia are past masters at it (only with mostly better looking phones)
TBH if Nokia started to release Android handsets with the hardware quality of the N9 or high end Lumias I think they could comfortably kick Samsung in the nuts sales wise.

Hardly gonna be good customer relations for MS after coming to a fair resolution over the kid cheating, to then make a scene in public about her letting him play inappropriate games.
