Approaching space object 'artificial, not asteroid' says NASA

Pub conversation

Strangely, a British amateur astronomer (*) was telling me about this down the pub (it's a Friday - where else?) and he had a few extra details:

- the spectroscopy says the surface is 'titanium oxide paint'

- the object is dense because it's oddly unaffected by solar winds (not blown off course) so likely to be more massive than usual space junk

- believed to be Russian 4th or 5th stage rocket

- 10% chance of earth interface in 2036

Ticket site sorry for pisspoor password wrong

Not new!

IIRC, that particular password (albeit in the singular) was used by one of the world's largest banks back in the 80s during a 2 week install/rollout of an FX/MM product. We used a 2 part system (4 chars each) for security, via sealed countersigned envelopes. Needless to say, there are plenty of creative options with only 4 chars to play with, and this was the best permutation. It gave complete access to the Prod system...

War On Terrier

Actually it's the small ones that are out of control in our neck of the woods. Vicious little toy dogs uncontrolled by female owners that frighten my staffie (chipped, insured natch).

Cool feature!

It automatically removes people from street scenes(*) and landscapes etc, without all that tedious mucking about in Photoshop!

(*) yes, I know that it's possible to stand still for 3+ minutes, but who does?

Pardon?

So the user makes a 'king loud noise, attracts a lot of attention from the rioters, who put on their ear defenders and eliminate the threat at source...

Sounds (sorry) like the only people hurt will be the innocent bystanders and the disposable idiot holding the device!

But we've got one already

While the persistence of the man is truly admirable, someone really should point out that we already have airships...perhaps he could try his hand at some nuclear fusion or a way to get fashionably fat low profile tyres to work on snow?
