Perhaps we have '00s of years of oil left? No idea, just throwing the idea in.
But if you were part of a multi-billion dollar cartel would you want this info out there pushing oil prices down to pennies per barrel, nope.
2 reasons -
They'd lose waaaay to much money.
it would be too costly to drill for it so there is some argument to keep oil at a sustainable even profitable level, problem is that it's at a very or extremely profitable level most of the time.
And you have the temerity to say to denialists "Ah, denialists... You folks would be an interesting, isolated cohort for a sociologist's grant-supportable PhD study of self-affirming religionists". Et Tu Brutus
Methinks you should be looking closer to home for the "self-affirming" after you said :- "And, yes, it is inarguable and human activity is causing it"
usually, only a religious zealout says something that is NOT conclusively proven is inarguable - go figure on your comment...
And you're a fuckwit for saying "God you're stupid to make the remark "God you're stupid"." and the rest of the pish you wrote.
"As it is, the only people doing it are criminals" - what bloody planet are you living on, you moron.
My initial thought was I hope you don't end up in a situation where you end up jail for something that caused NO damage, NO financial loss (other than paying coders to fix the sloppily installed server) and he sought NO financial gain but then I thought "you know what it might be the wake up call WatAWorld needs"
"Errm you know that the SIII isn't Android right? It's samsungs spin on Android."
Errm - You do know you can flash the SIII with a more pure Android version (think CM 10.1) with all the Samsung crap removed.

"Contractors are a stopgap, said Harris, but one that only postpones the day of reckoning - a view shared by 40 per cent of companies, the forum’s research suggested."
I've spoken to guys who have been contracting for over 35+ years and they've often said they were told that "contracting won't last forever, give it a few years and the new blood will put you out of business". Given that contracting expanded massively even though universities were pumping out lots of IT graduates and this is now drying up, I think I can look forward to future contracts.
"We called Apple, and they told us that the new A5 is now a 28nm chip, and it's manufactured not by Apple's iDevice processor partner, Samsung, but instead by the Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), and that they made the change because Apple is weaning itself from its chip-baking relationship with the Korean smartphone competitor and patent-litigation enemy.
That previous paragraph, of course, was pure fantasy – übersecretive Apple would never be so forthcoming."

Record labels need to be asking themselves:-
"Should we continue to sell X copies of albums at £10, or sell XXX copies of albums at £3"
Much better to sell 1 million copies at £3 than 100,000 at £10
Plus it is a snowball effect - 1 million albums sold gets to a greater audience and more people could end up listening to it and then buying it themselves.
Think of the numbers - 1 million people who share it with 5 people who in turn share it with 5 people or 100,000 people who do the same. The numbers are staggeringly different.

"Also, sometimes the answer isn't to fix the problem but to just get the system working, you are providing a critical service to the public, you can fix the problem later"
Having been at the sharp edge (in a certain mega large organisation) I can tell you that 99% of teccies would like to take this course of action but 99% of the time they are stopped by [glory hunting] managers.
We have a name for them - "Visibility Managers".
They didn't want anything happening until very senior managers had seen them involved so they could take all the credit. Once the very senior managers had disappeared (fault worked around or fixed etc.) the "Visibility Manager" would very quickly become the "Invisibility Manager" and f**ked off.
wow - having worked at RBS this is not far from what has happened on some recovery calls I was involved in. Systems were down and some manager would actually request a change be raised BEFORE fixing the issue - Anybody who knows the RBS change system *coughInfomancough* knows it is not the quickest system in to world.
have a pint for reminding what I escaped from.
"By contrast, presiding judge Colonel Denise Lind ruled yesterday that Manning could have only *** one *** witness: William Leonard of the National Archives and Records Administration. He will also not be allowed to present any evidence accusing the US government of excessive secrecy."
yet the govt can have 141 - of course we are the land of the free and due process (and I don't want to hear any "it's a military court" crap)
and the number of Apple users who see me swyping ultrafast sentences and ask "is that available for my <insert apple device of choice>", to which I say "Sorry but Apple don't want anybody else to use a different keyboard other than their own - take it up with them, I'm sure they'll be very helpful"
I think the pertinent words are "recently shipped". A LOT of kit sold before 2006/7 (and quite a bit after this) was just shipped with a default password (maybe a default username as well) with an advisory to change it ASAP. It's only relatively recently that kit has been shipped with a default user/pass but with a forced change on 1st use (Cisco do this now for most kit)
It wouldn't surprise me if this kit was shipped many years ago and never replaced/upgraded cos it just works.
