More armor?
In other, completely unrelated news, Izhmash have demonstrated prototypes of their new bolt-action rifle firing 22mm APDFS rounds.

I think I´ll give that guy down the street a good kick in the nuts - though he claims he just wants to cut some bread, he might be trying to get a knife to stab someone else in my street. Even if he wants the knife to have equal arms with me and my gang, but I´d feel safer if I kicked him. After all, he refuses to let me search each part of his house twice...
Sounds odd?
Sounds like US foreign "politics" to me.
flame me, transatlantics.
Have a Supertalent Masterdrive SX [yes, exceptionally stupid name] since this morning in my company notebook, replacing a Seagate Momentus 5400.
Verdict:
The SX is so fast, even McAfee can´t slow my machine down.
This is truly unbelievable. It feels so... responsive. Even colleagues who didn´t know of the replacement did mention my notebook seems to be way faster.
Oddly enough: you can´t properly measure the difference.
GO for SSD, definitly "GO!"
for the same 2,4 kEur you can get
8x 128GB Supertalent SX SSD and
1x 8port LSI megaraid 9260-8i
Wich is a tad bulkier but gives you an PCIe 8x attached SSD array with 1,5Gbytes of write cache (128MBytes on each drive and 512 on the controller).
Anyone willing to hazard a guess which one is faster?
...and if you don´t need the 1TB ssd you can either scale down to a four drive array or use a 70Eur 1,5TB Spinpoint F2 like everyone else.
[Or they just add a fifth platter] and gain the remaining 500GBytes by increasing areal density just a little to something already in use at WD.
Maybe I should have finished the sentecne, but I expected this to be obvious.
6Platter drives definitly won´t fit. Also haven´t seen one of these for quite a while... 3,5" double height, had some 18GB seagate UWSCSI drives back then...
Reminds me of 1984, when a bunch of "motivated young men" ;) did experiment with the behaviour of the then -claimed- unhackable BTX system in Germany. Around 125000 Deutschmarks later the German Post -as the BTXs operator- had to remove said "unhackable" claim.
Interestingly, said experiment did include sending slightly larger answers back to the BTX system than BTX expected.
One would expect input sanitation had become common within the past 25 years...
These men were later known as the CCC, btw.
Huzzah! Another electric sports car never to be produced. Way to go!
Meanwhile still on my wishlist: Station wagon large enough for a family with two children to go on vacation with. A decent engine would be nice (I could live with 120kW AWD), but two weeks worth of luggage and the stroller are a priority.
If you buy back stock from the open market you reduce the number of shares available to investors, right?
This makes the price of your shares rise.
But if there are less shares on the market, don´t you have to pay less dividends, do you?
If all of the above is true, wont a long term buy-back strategy reduce the amount of dividends to pay and thus save you (at least some) money?
Pirates, because of stock markets
If it can´t even kill a Humvee (which is used by the US), how is it supposed to defeat a Toyota 4x4 Pickup (which is used by everyone else)?
I mean, even Clarkson couldn´t kill one.
Though, not having to circle your target is nice, but I can´t see the advantage to a Strike Eagle with half a dozen AGM65.
...3 Platters/drive, 25 drives per 2 Rack units... *mumble, scribble* one spare *scribble* 36TBytes raw, deducting raid *scribble* around 15TBytes usable capacity per Unit... times 42.... wooohooo.
That might not be fast, but for MAID solution... my near-line archiving problems are to be considered "solved".
I´ll have a pallet of those, please.
Lucky copper if he only suffered scratches and bites. My parents own^H^H^Hlive with a Thimney grey parrot which is about a third of the macaws size and still can unleash serious mayhem[1] if bothered. An annoyed macaw should be able to take your fingers easily.
Relatives have Kongo grey (slightly larger than a Thimney and talks less) who killed a cat. Circumstances unknown, but it was not their cat. Had a broken wing afterwards, though.
[1] all the way down to the bone and leave a scratch mark there, in case you wondered. The claws are less dangerous, but a parrot has eight of them.
Actually, the law over which Tauss left the SPD was about creating a secret list of web adresses which all german providers should no longer relay data from (but rather redirect users to a "stop-sign").
The law does not state a controlling insturment, nor a review of the blocked sites. Also, it is not limited to CP and -guess what- copyright holders have already shown interest.
Furthermore, the german pirate partys program can hardly be boiled down to "free rein for computer users to swap copyrighted content", so please check your facts.
Flames, since this is about politics AND CP.
