Sony preps PS3 with old-school design

Re: The last drawn out death rattle of the current generation...

You assume that anyone who owns it is only interested in it being cutting edge. I have one, have had it for years, and have never played a game on it. I am tempted by this new one, to get bitstreaming HD audio, and if its quieter than the old one I have.

Assuming it matches both of those, it will be far from irrelevant in a year for me, and I imagine many others.

You've missed a trick here....

Lets ignore the MP3 thing for now, its a given that nobody using anything near this would think of using an MP3.

But you've missed a trick with the D/A converter. I work in a mastering house, and we clock our converters to a £10k atomic clock. Surely you'd want one of them..... ;)

Behringer, please!

Please do not refer to Behringer as "high-end" audio. I work professionally in sound, and trust me when I say Behringer are an industry wide joke. They make cheap naff sounding knock offs of other good designs, make them look similar and assume joe Bloggs won't be able to tell they sound awful.

Waterfall Niagara speakers

Here! Here!

I was going to say something similar.

If you are going to listen to Chilli's on speakers like that, try Blood, Sugar, Sex, Magik. That sound simply brilliant on good cones. Albums after that sound awful!

Airport scanner staff object to vetting

FAIL

Wrong!

Let me correct you! I work in Heathrow security, and for 3 years we had the very scanners everyone is worrying about now in Terminal 4. They are also in Manchester.

They DO use x-rays, with a dose for the cycle of 3 micro-rem. The dose recieved is about the same as background radiation, and far less than you'd recieve on the plane!

They will not see drugs swallowed, they do not penetrate the skin, the only thing you sometimes see under the skin is the shinbone, because it's right up against quite thin skin.

However anything strapped to the body can be seen.

I agree with the person interviewed though, we have NO interest in keeping images of naked passengers, why would we?? We are looking for anything which can bring down the plane.

Wrong

These are NOT the scanners we use in the UK, so this could not be less relevant.

We use X-Ray scanners on which you can see everything the passenger may have strapped to their body.

I opperated the things for 2 years at Heathrow.

100 freetards an hour join Pirate Party UK

FAIL

95%

As someone who works in a rapidly shrinking music industry I can say with confidence that labels do not take 95% of the revenue from a CD sale. 40% at most, but then who do you think pays for the recording process and marketing of music???

I agree with the programmer who said he'd stop, why should he spend years working on something for it to be taken. It is theft, and is illegal (not unlawful).

The day everyone works for free, piracy will be legal.

UK border control can't count

Not as silly as you think....

I work at Heathrow, I see hundreds getting refused entry or deported everyday, and that's just from one terminal, so yes, in the grand scheme 6 or 140 really are very close given the tens of thousands refused every month.
