BBC Trust moots new licence laws to cope with net

Thumb Down

@DR

'You do need a licence to watch TV on a mobile phone or other battery-operated device.'

'if you have a laptop and either watch online or have a USB tuner card then you don't because it's a portable battery operated device.'

That make no sense at all!

Dixons websites take a little lie down

Rob Strzelecki

@Dave Edmondston

Yes you can. It's called using your mobile to place an order via collect@store and then going to the tills and waiting a few minutes while a member of staff goes to find you item.

Whilst no one really likes DSGi I wouldn't wish job loss on any of the staff. We don't really want them to go down, otherwise who else can we complain about?

'16 1Gb chips'!?

I know RAM is cheap at the moment but a bit of an overkill? 16 128MB chips maybe.

eBay gets negative feedback about ban on negative feedback

@Mark Fenton

Forcing the seller to leave feedback before the buyer can leave feedback for them has always seemed the logical approach to me as well. After all the buyer completes their side of the deal first as soon as they have paid so it only seems fair.

Fasthosts customer? Change your password now

Rob Strzelecki

So you never change your passwords?

Those of you complaining about having to change passwords...you've never changed them before!? Isn't that a security risk also.

You should change your passwords regularly whether or not your host has asked you to.

Dell's Linux sleight of hand

Rob Strzelecki

They can take you into the past though.

Hmm, just went to dell.co.uk/ubuntu to spec a machine (no point, there are hardly any options). But they could deliver it to me last month apparently: 'Preliminary Ship Date - 22/08/2007'. Yes my PC clock is correct. I doubt many people what actually use Linux daily would every think of buying Dell.

Satnav driver's car totalled by train

Rob Strzelecki

Beryg , drenau yn pasio!

Well it's written in both languages!

Extremely unlucky as only about 2 trains run along the line there a day and at a max of about 60mph.
