Aussies are great people! Spend millions rescuing solo round-the-world child sailors, probably thousands fetching GPS units from the outback,... good on yas cobbers! Next time I go on holiday I ain't gonna worry about travel insurance - I'll just call the Aussies!

I can't really see your scenario developing. Obviously in the future, if any new types of sites need to be blocked, there'll be a public and transparent process, a public consultation and referendum, and a cool, calm and logical decision arrived at in a democratic manner.

Only legal smut now?

So, living in NZ, does this filter mean that if I view a site it's not illegal? Obviously all the illegal sites have been filtered away - so any smut I can view via the web, I can't be prosecuted for?

Yes but

If I leave my house door open, it's still illegal for someone to come in and take my photos and publish them. So just because the "door" to the website was open, doesn't make it ok for the journos to wander in and copy the documents.

Still, I do believe in "open government", and can't see what the problem really is.

As a parent

I have no qualms with my kids hearing stuff like this, or even seeing a tv-advertisment with some housewife stirring the boiling sausages saucily. I would draw the line at definite porn in advertisements though (total nudity, stiff appendages for example).

Is it possible to complain about advertisements that do not include enough innuendo? They apparently received 21 complaints about too much innuendo. What if they got 50 complaints that the innuendo was too weak?
