Apple iPad spanked with Defective by Design protest

WTF?

Spoken like a chinese citizen

When asked in a survey 80+ % of Chinese citizens feel that the state operated "Great firewall of China" is perfectly O.K. most stating that the only purpose it serves is to filter "harmful filth" that runs rampant through the rest of the world.

And you sir, with the statement above sound just like the poor brainwashed souls that are victim to state ran censorship...

Please sir, put down the cup of "St. Steve's Holy Tea" and seek help at once...

WTF?

Amen!

I couldn't agree with you more...

but dont take my word for it, one can discover this for themselves, take a trip to the Temple of Jobs and see for yourself how wonderful the holy saint steve really is.

When you arrive at the divine palace, the first thing you'll notice is the royal jobsian chariot parked in a handicapped spot with its license plates removed so he doesnt get a ticket. way to look out for the less fortunate there saint steve... take their f*cking parking spot!

the next thing you'll notice, as you approach the royal hoist we call an elevator, is that saint steve rides alone, why you ask? because no jobsian mac-o-lite in their mind who cherishes their tenure at the divine institution of jobs will dare ride the elevator with him, thanks to his (not so) charming demeanor and love for ripping out the hearts of his devout followers, leaving them broken down, demoralized and unemployed souls when the doors open...

there is so much more....

It seems to me that...

If the creator of MySQL wants to dictate, block or interfere with the operations or sale of MySQL then a refund to Sun of the $1bn purchase price would be in order. seems only right, if he wants to still be in control of it, then he needs to give Sun their money back...

FTC whacks Intel with anticompetition complaint

Wallyb132
FAIL

@frankg778 Seriously, you missed the point...

So, frankg778, by your (flawed) logic, if i ran a software house, like, lets say microsoft, i would have to compile my software twice, and sell 2 versions of it, one for intel and one for everyone else, despite the fact that both versions are x86? what a nightmare that would make.

Then there's me the network administrator, who uses servers with both AMD and intel processors, each having their strengths, so by your logic, i would have to have 2 different versions of each of the apps i use, installed on different versions of the same OS, one for intel and one for AMD, solely because Intel decided to cripple their compilers.

Got any more retarded statements you'd like to throw out there?

Mr. Hud Dunlap,

Please, get back on your medication, and if you dont take medication, please start... Intel is a shining example of an insecure and abusive criminal enterprise. breaking them up would be the best thing that could happen to the IT industry...

HP, Dell punters furious over Windows 7 upgrade delays

Wallyb132
WTF?

Info somewhat incorrect...

I havent read the comments on this article, so this may already be posted, i dont know, however the info i've been reading about charging for the upgrade in various el reg stories is inaccurate. i purchased 4 HP laptops between 6-26-09 and 10-15-09, all of which qualify for the win7 upgrade, after reading the various el reg stories i was expecting to have to pay for the upgrade kits, however when i logged on the to upgrade site and placed the order i was quite surprised, i wasnt charged for the order, not even shipping. i simply provided my proof of purchase and received a confirmation email saying my order was placed...

now granted its 11-18-09 and i still havent received my 4 upgrade kits, but at least i wasnt charged for them...

Its really too bad, Danger...

Danger had a good thing going, very well designed platform and phone setup, they were very hip for their time. its really too bad they got infected by that coolness killing, image ruining, reputation destroying disease known as Microsoft, and now they're doomed to a future image of looking like a bunch of old men way out of touch with style, still trying to look cool, with really bad comb overs...

Intel settles with AMD for $1.25bn

Wallyb132
Go

This is a first...

This to me reads as a sign of fear on intel's part. intel hasnt feared anything in the past, the EU / Japan / South Korea antitrust complains didnt seem to phase them, AMD's civil litigation was an expected cost of doing business and so on.

In those scenarios the only at stake was some money, possibly some restrictions on marketing practices, and maybe a dent or 2 in their pride, nothing more. in their own view, their armor was thick enough it could with stand a few chinks here and there, battle scars that make for good war stories to tell their grandchildren.

Then came Andrew Cuomo and the state of New York, followed closely behind by the FTC, with wispers of the DOJ riding in behind them, all waving antitrust antitrust complaints, and all having the power to do some real damage to intel. looking at that battlefield, and the possible consequences of losing any or all of the upcoming US government cases, intel actually showed signs of fear and waved the white flag, hoping that settle the case with AMD and making an agreement about its future marketing practices will be enough to stave off the coming onslaught of US.gov cases.

probably a wise move on intel's part, with a heavily democrat controlled US government in place at the moment, intel faces the very real possibility of being broken up by the courts. they would have faced the same fate as Microsoft in its antitrust case, however this time its to early in the election cycle, there wouldn't be a change of office, no republican president to come in and save their ass, like Bush did for Microsoft...

New York's top lawman slaps Intel with lawsuit

Wallyb132
Heart

@NBCanuck...

You've almost got a point there, except you're missing one little detail: AMD already has a civil suit against Intel that is well established and under way already, its set to go to trial early next year... so in one respect you're right, the governments involvement only aims to benefit the government financially, and its easy to think that, but if you take in to account AMD's civil suit you would realize how much of a gift this is to AMD.

AMD's suit should be finished first, unless they move to stay it until the governments action is finished, if they go forward now, AMD will get to use all the findings of both new york and the FTC's investigations as part of their claim, as well as the 3 standing international convictions, and, they'll get the first slice of the pie. If the case gets stayed until new york and the FTC are finished then AMD gets 2 more convictions in addition to the EU, south Korea and Japan's to validate their claim. Domestic convictions will be irrefutable in the civil case, even if those convictions come by way of consent decree or settlement.

intel will have no way of wiggling out of this, the only thing the civil jury will have to determine is the amount of damages, each and every government complaint increases those damages... this is a gift to AMD...

And for the record, after getting fucked by intel time and time again, i bought one of the very first Athlons release in 99' and never looked back, i'm not afraid to admit that i'm an AMD fanboy tried and true...

@Anonymous Coward RE: AnyDVD

The reason why AnyDVD is openly sold on the public market is because its maker Slysoft is based in Antigua, which is legally allowed to disregard all US copyrights trademarks and other forms of intellectual property thanks to a ruling by the WTO. The US abused its power in trying to criminalize online gambling and Antigua took them to arbitration at the WTO and won.

On a serious note, these planet destroying eco-fucktard-terrorists are seriously out of control and need to be stopped, they are the biggest bunch of hypocrites to ever roam the planet. period...

I grew up the child of an oil field worker in the 70's and 80's, i used to see these people hold demonstrations and picket the entrance to my fathers company, i would ask my father why he would get so mad at them, they're just trying to save the planet...

One day father stopped and sat me down and said: The first person that comes up here riding a horse, wearing leather moccasins, and clothes made of hand-stitched animal hide, carrying nothing made of plastic or anything which relies on petroleum products for its production or operation, i will sit down and listen to that person. until then they are nothing but a group hypocrites and environmental terrorists who cant live a day of their lives without relying on the very products they say is destroying our planet. everyday these idiots get out bed and brush their teeth with toothbrushes made of plastic, heat food in a microwave, put on rubber soled shoes and jump in their oil lubricated gas burning cars and come down here to tell me how i am destroying the planet. these are soulless people who only care about fighting a cause even though they rely on that very cause every minute of their lives, they are retarded but the law says we cant kill them, so we just have to live with them...

Engineer commits suicide after losing iPhone prototype

Wallyb132
Jobs Horns

This finalizes 2 things for me...

1. Dont buy Apple products.

2. Dont buy Foxconn's products.

End of story!

I dont believe Apple for a second when they say "We require our suppliers to treat all workers with dignity and respect." Otherwise the headline would've read something like:

Apple terminates business business dealing with Foxconn after security forces beat an engineer , who later committed suicide, over lost prototype!

Anything less than that tells me that the only thing Apple values is their bottom line, something i will never contribute to, nor ever have...

Its a sad day in this industry, because technology is replaceable, human lives are not...
