Ghostery is crap
Had to bin it. The 'Ghost crew' spend too much time fucking things up so that sites break. Got fed up of tinkering with it to fix things. It looks nice, but so does a polished turd. The old Ghostery just worked.

Why should anyone be forced to tell somebody that they don't use their service? Do I tell Tesco or ASDA when I walk into Lidl? The BBC should face reality and make the Licence for their service alone. Just like other businesses out there. Put out a good product or service and customers will come. Extortion is illegal except where the licence in concerned. You should not have to pay not use something. For for the apologists out there. A TV service is not like the NHS, roads or schools. Life would continue without the BBC extortion racket.
Prequels always suck. They break the original story because the writers feel the need to include the latest flashy tech in the movie. Characters will have powers they lack in their future and every one will somehow know and bump into everyone they will meet in the future. (films) Why not just write a new tale based on the existing books? I know, that sounds too difficult and it won't make the masses angry pointing out all the errors that will set the internet on fire. Gotta get those flames huge.
Why don't software companies run the same model? Because they have trained the masses to expect change, the more rapid the better (according to them). If something just works then the muppets won't trust it if the version doesn't jump every few months. They expect to throw things away and buy new. In a few years the penny will drop and sanity will return. Stability will be a desirable as will features that are consumer friendly.
The real way democracy works is that you get to vote for someone who lies their asses off and promises things that they will never deliver. Then when in power they take the stance of a dictator who has a job for life and do whatever they like for a few years. When the next election looms they suddenly become caring, they even venture into the real world to influence the mentally challenged with more bullshit. Rinse and repeat.
Fiddling polls makes no odds.
In business you charge what you can get any with. Take bottled water, 1000%+ mark up and it sells. iPhones are the same. When idiots wake up to the fact they are being screwed the bubble will burst. The way to avoid that is conditioning. Make the product a must have. Rinse and repeat. Profit.
The practice seems to apply to energy suppliers too. They shit on existing customers and watch them leave only to temp new victims with reduced prices. I know switching is easy-ish but I loathe doing the same tap dance every couple of years. The truth is they are a cartel and fix prices amongst themselves.
You miss the point. The key word is TROJAN. A program that appears to be one thing but under the surface it is something else.
Past Windows OS were just that, something to launch programs and run the computer nothing more. Windows 10 brings spying to the table. It reports back to mother everything you do, run or type. Just like malware. My 'quotation' was lifted directly from the article with 'Windows 10' inserted. It is malware just like this Mac nasty. It functions the same and reinstalling will not get rid of it.
Windows 10 is a remote-control trojan designed specifically for PC systems. It opens a backdoor granting root-level command-line access to commandeer the computer, and can steal passwords, encryption and VPN keys, and crypto-currencies from infected systems. It can gain access to a victim's cloud account, even if two-factor authentication is used.
And people still use it and defend it.
@ ToFab You trust M$ yet in their own T&C they say if they find anything on your machine they don't like they'll report it to the authorities. And do you really believe they won't sell the stuff they take from your computer? How else are they going to make money from slurping? You win the prize of the most gullible person I've seen on this site.
M$ collect personal data and copy of everything you type into the machine. All your contacts belong to them. That new big thing you've been busy inventing will get copied/stolen by M$ and used in their future products. There isn't a clear trail of breadcrumbs leading back to them that anyone can unravel easily. This is espionage on a global scale and the governments of the world know it and so far have done nothing to put an end to it.
No government really wants M$ to stop gathering data from its victims. What they want is access to that data. All the talk talk of push button crime solving needs to have copious data on everyone. M$ has provided the means. The only people they want exempted from the slurp are themselves and the rich.
@ TrumpSlurp the Troll
It's a bit like the 'Netflix' sub, until everybody wants their cut. Who can afford £100s of pounds a month subs?
If websites charged like some do, most people will just go elsewhere or do without. All this micro-payment stuff is for fools who cannot count beyond ten.
HideMyAss had a similar issue a few years back where the gave up a customer to the plod. They are still in business as people have no memory nowadays. PureVPN will carry on as normal. Maybe lower their prices and design a new logo ( likeTalkTalk) and bingo saps will buy in. This is the internet age.
Yes. the second film continues from the first. The passage of time makes no difference. Hollywood, rather than make something new dig into past films and make sequels. I'm not talking about re-makes but sequels where the next film in the series gets progressively worse and mangles the story. Films used to be stand alone works of art, complete in themselves. Now films are made with sequels in mind.
If this new Blade Runner is any good, (or rakes in a lot of cash) they'll make a 3rd and even a 4th. Every series starts with the first one.
And yet the BBC ran a campaign several years ago pointing out that they made unique programs because of the unique way they are funded. The TV tax is a payment to the BBC, don't believe the spin. If the BBC are so good why don't they go subscription like sky? I mean idiots shell out for Sky crap so why not for the BBC?
People pay for Sky because they want to. People pay the BBC because they have to and are forced to do so under threat of a criminal record. The BBC should put up or shut up. I'll never give the BBC a penny. After the way they discriminate against women (low pay) and shield kiddy fiddlers. They pay millions to key 'talent' and believe they need to win ratings over ITV. They should in competition with nobody.
@Teahound Some very good points there but when the wall of thickness (the phone not the user) is reached by then phones will be able to bend. So the race to invisibility will continue. Most users have Stockholm syndrome. They will defended any anti-consumer stunt that is pulled on them. Seal in the battery = good as changing the battery prevents you from buying / renting a new one next year. Remove the headphone jack = Great idea, why else would they pay a kings ransom for rechargeable Bluetooth headphones that will need binning when the battery dies...
Millennials are idiots, I just hope that when their kids rebel the kids adopt common sense and realize that getting screwed on everything is retarded.
If you like Firefox but hate all the bullshit it contains, love all your old plugins and would like to continue using them then switch to Waterfox. It is a fork of Firefox with all the crap removed. Switching is seamless. 1. Download load file. 2. Close Firefox. 3. Run Waterfox. Everything is the same, bookmarks remain etc, but no telemetry and your old plugins and themes work.
I keep my onions in the fridge and they taste great and do not rot. They don't stink up the fridge either. I chop onions with a knife and they rarely make me cry. I store the chopped onions in the fridge in an air tight box. Maybe I'm getting old and my eyeballs are hardening or I'm just immune to the gas.
The reason why Sky is so expensive is that idiots will pay that price. If people dumped Sky en-mass the prices would tumble to something more reasonable. F1 is locked away and soon to vanish from FTA because idiot 'fans' stump up and pay the leech. If they had simply used their brains and resisted paying, F1 would return to FTA because there is money in it for Sky. Glad to hear they are losing cash. Look forward to the news that they have gone bust.
Stupid argument. One you are forced to pay on pain of a criminal record, the others are a choice. If I mugged you and only took your wallet and watch would you sing my praises whilst my buddy slit your throat? 'Wow what a great thief. He could have killed me but he didn't. Incredible value'. Why don't you lovers of the BBC pay double to help them out if it's so cheap?
Point 3.
M$ are doing a similar thing TODAY. Forcing Edge and even intercepting local searches to Bing. The have not learned anything except that if you break the law you have a few years to benefit from your crime and so called big fine will still see you in profit. That is why they will always pull that shit.
Reel to reel has a resolution of about 12bits, CD has a bit depth of 16bits. Sampling at 44.1kHz covers all the frequencies a human can hear. I'll leave it to you to which sounds better. Reel to reel is the definition of BS.
@ CrazyOldCatMan sorry mate but you can burn images into LCD screens by displaying static images for long periods. I ruined a screen because the browser I use always is in the same place. Agree the CRTs should be replaced, but because of space and power saving. Screen-savers suck because the screen remains on using power. A blank screen is preferable.
