WTF?

Privacy - important for so many reasons

This question over on Security Stack Exchange has some answers which May should read and digest. "Why does one need a high level of privacy/anonymity for legal activities?"

How can you protect yourself from CRIME - BEAST's successor?

On http://Security.StackExchange.com, one of our members has made an interesting guess at this. Have a look at our blog post for info on how the attack takes place, and how to protect yourself against it:

Re: Burn Your Planet - lyrics

Plunder all the forests so I can wipe my a**

Dig up all the deserts so I can ride in cars

Dragnet the oceans so I can feed my face

Rip open the ozone so we can heat the place

Burn all the fossils so I can watch TV's

Dissect all the animals to save me from disease

Take all my rubbish and stuff it in the land

Chlorinate the water so I can wash my hands of it

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

A wise man said leave nothing but footprints

Carbon is the base of life, read the blueprints

The next generation will just make it worse

There's only one attitude to lift the curse

So if you want to stop AIDS and you want to kill cancer

You want to end poverty, war and hunger

If you have any compassion for the human race

Smash open your fridge and **** this place up

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

Let's burn the world, set it on fire, let's burn your planet

UK could have flooded world with iPods - Sir Humphrey

There was successful British one!

In production from 1999 - I still have one in my car and one on my workbench. The Empeg, brainchild of Hugo 'Altman' Fiennes and a bunch of Cambridge geniuses (Genii?).

It wasn't as portable as the iPod - it was for a car - but it has hard drives, it can play mp3, ogg, flac, wav etc., and the sound quality is considerably better than its competitors, even now, as it was targeted at the high end market.

This amuses/depresses me

My provider (Talk Talk) fails to get me anything above 1.3Mb/s - just west of Edinburgh, although they happily charge me for 8Mb/s as they say I could get faster speeds!

There is no need for adverts any more - block them. Simples

@Chad H

No - speed cameras do not make you drive slower. If you watch the majority of drivers, it is obvious that speed cameras make you drive slower for a very brief period of time (using very heavy braking, without looking in the rear view mirror) before accelerating hard up to a higher than normal speed to make up for the slowed section. On average I see people drive faster on roads immediately after speed cameras than they were before noticing the striped things!

Get rid of the lot of them and the rest of the nanny state infrastructure and bring back proper traffic cops, responsibility and discretion.

Ahh - the Dragon 32

I had one which travelled with me to and from the Falkland Islands a number of times in the early eighties, and I only got rid of it this year!

Still have my Osborne 1 - working perfectly after all these years (not that it is staggeringly useful any more, but pretty cool nonetheless)

Another amusing story involving weight breaking a surface

Two men who decided they would avoid the traffic by driving along a canal in Scotland have been described as 'stupid' by the police after their car broke through the thin ice.

Not connected by much, other than gravity and mass, but it amused me.

I like this idea - pre-vet all would-be parents...heh heh

Makes more sense than vetting authors.

Oh, but wait - authors who are parents...tricksy
