Thanks for having a go, but that's not really any clearer. What exactly is it that's coming next that is 8 big and how do we know that 8 is going to be enough? If it's leaving room for a specific thing then there should be something defining the size of that thing, surely?
Still looks like a magic number to me, yet this is Linus' fixed version of the code. So what's going on?
