Although in all fairness, you are generalising what a "typical gamer" is with your comment, so it is unlikely that I would be able to meet your lofty criteria.
Sony and Nintendo had a big thing going on with the development of a CD based entertainment/console system that would effectively be an add-on for the SNES. Nintendo pulled out of the project after issues with the original contracts that would grant Sony complete control over all games written for the proposed format. After most of the hard RnD work had been done, Sony went ahead and bundled the tech together into a single unit.

So what happens if a developer produces an app that provides a direct feed from say, El Reg, and Vulture Central decide to publish a story on, let's say a maker of a well known mobile telephony device, and someone posts in the comments page to that story a link to a website that says "Ra ra ra ra apple fanboi ra ra ra ra overpriced handset ra ra ra ra raving maniacs ra ra ra ra", Apple would pull the plug on the app?

First - read the quest text (although I suppose that is the problem that Jeffrey Kaplan is describing in the article - never been a problem for me personally), then you will know what to do; it's a basic escort quest ffs!
Secondly - half an hour to an hour? Seriously? Took me about 12 minutes with my DK, and about 18 minutes with my Hunter, once the main battle started at the entrance to the sewers.

I disagree, I gained 2 weapon skill points (2 handed swords) and 2 defense skill points while doing that quest on the DK.
Mines the one with the [Medallion of the Alliance] in the back pocket...
I was recently with the wife in hospital, (she was having some breathing problems, bit of a freak out), when I looked over to the doctors room to try to get their attention (had already waited for over 3 hours to see a doctor) - when I noticed they had left a PC unlocked and displaying a WikiPedia article on some treatment or other (I couldn't read it from that distance, all I could see were some images of molecular bindings or somesuch).
I mean, seriously? Are not these people supposed to be fully trained already?
Didn't they use these in the late 80's for a full length feature film cartoon thingy called Starchaser: the Legend Of Orin? I remember going to see it as a child in full 3D, I'm sure of it. I also remember being extremely dissapointed that it wasn't in 3D when it came out on VHS the following year...
Or am I imagining things?
@ JonB - Brave New World - Damn good idea Sir! It would make an exceptional mini series I believe, enough Sci to qualify and a lot of social commentary about government control....woops, did I say control? I meant betterment for mankind, of course.
@ How about finally doing some new british sci-fi - Yep, there is enough of it out there, and a serialisation of Mr Hamilton's Nights Dawn Trilogy would be awesome.

Yeah, yeah, the whole Buck Rogers thing (which was pants anyway IMHO), but Farscape did it much better, funnier, good scripts, great special effects and with some truly horrifying characters. I mean, Scorpius? C'mon!

Apologies, I had to express the absolute shock at what I had just read....
Lee, I think you hit the nail on the head there:

And I think that applies not just to the good Doctor, but any show that us 30+'s used to watch as children. Prime example being Terrahawks. Anyone else remember that one? (for the uninformed, a kids tv series made in the early 80's by the infamous Gerry Anderson of Thunderbirds fame). Absolutely fantastic to watch (and just a little terrifying) as a child. A friend of mine managed to get hold of the whole series on VHS at a carboot sale, so a group of us sat down to watch it one evening.
Worst mistake ever. Got halfway through the second episode and completely shattered all my childhood memories. My advice? Don't do it.

Not all the episodes of Firefly were "the best ever". They were all fantastic, except "Jaynestown", which was the best ever!

They probably did engage someone in the feds, just not through official channels. From what I understand (and I could be wrong here, so please feel free to correct me anyone) they have managed to infiltrate a lot of the intelligence services/law agencies in 'merca land to such a degree that not even the same said agencies are sure as to how high a level, or to what level of saturation the infiltration occurs.
What's more worrying is that of the 5 posts to the site so far, four are posted "Anonymous".
