Android out-runs Windows Phone 7 on price comparison site

Windows Phone 7 is actually very good

In the US sales were reportedly at around 40,000 over a weekend or something like that. In the European market - supposedly they were around 200,000+ which isnt too shabby.

It is very early to write WP7 off and the advertising push has been massive. I have an Omnia 7 and it is a quality piece of kit - and the best thing about WP7 - as a phone it is excellent. Compared to my HD2 which was laggy and unreliable WP7 is a breath of fresh air.

Flash is coming, so is multitasking & copy/paste. Xbox Live integration is solid and the games are excellent on the phone if a little pricey.

It is an excellent OS - albeit it is still version 1.0 - give it time people!

So did Windows Phone 7 'bomb in US'?

WP7 is actually very good

I have a Samsung Omia 7 in the UK and have to admit that there has been a huge surge of demand from what I have seen. WP7 is a fresh and rather excellent OS. I have a few smartphones and WP7 is (IMO) the best so far. I think it will pick up and the 40,000 units shifted seems a little low compared to Europe.

As a phone its excellent and the xbox live integration is solid if a little barebones.

Just get Angry birds on it and it will shift bucketloads!

iPhone makes eyes at T-Mobile and Orange

WTF?

Orange Firmware

I dont know how Orange would cope without being able to butcher a phones firmware with its bloatware! I have recently got the Omnia HD through an Orange upgrade and some of the Orange specific widgets and apps etc are ridiculous - example - the new email and text notification always shows the time as being an hour behind.

Still - the phone itself is very very good and much like the comment above about the N97 - Orange doesnt market the handsets - all we get are those stupid adverts at the cinema.

I would get an iPhone if it came to Orange...

AppStore

Samsung need to open up an app store if they are serious about an iPhone rival. I have just got an Omnia HD and it is great and could be a real alternative to the iPhone - Orange should never be allowed to butcher the firmware of phones and load it full of bloatware, secondly Samsung really need to look at supporting the Handsets they release. Apps and widgets need to be released by the bucket load.
