Even the rich will like it. They can dismiss their chauffer. Will the system be egalitarian or will the bigger, shinier cars always go to the head of the line? The fellows at TopGear certainly won't be happy. I won't mind it but I do tend to get feel a bit motion sick when I'm not driving. Probably due to, again, trust issues. It will take time.
...in a pig's eye. Does anyone still adhere to the argument that ending file sharing will result in all those blocked downloads immediately becoming people rushing to the store to buy it? It will result in people thinking twice, realizing they don't need it, and getting on with their lives. At the very least, the rest of us can expect a little more bandwidth. Now, if they would only go after the spammers with as much vociferousness, considering spam is now, what?, 60% of all network traffic at least?
I thought the internet was all the networked computers connected together, and it worked completely automatically, and that any attempt at censorship is viewed as damage and is routed out of the way. Everyone seems to think they own the internet, and in truth the internet will still be there working after we have exterminated ourselved in the next world war. All this profiteering is just silly.

If the government wants to go all SkyNet and nuke the world to save the world, none of us can do anything about that. Ever again. Otherwise, I would not even waste space printing articles like this or time reading them.
If worse comes to worse, we can let them devolve back to the stone age and we can keep on using shortwave packet bursts to communicate.

No, I wouldn't. I'd laugh, because life is short and no matter how piss-elegant we individual humans think we are, we are all going to die and rot and be eaten by worms. None of this really fecking matters in the cosmic stretch of time and space. I laugh because someday Prince will be worm food, just like Mozart. Only people are still playing Mozart and still will be playing Mozart 5000 years from now, but Prince will be forgotten forever within the next few decades. That, for what it's worth, is justice.

How many complaints are registered when Internet Explorer defaults to MSN Search? How many deadheads do not know how to change their default web browser? How many people own computers and high speed internet who should not be allowed near a four function calculator? (Or, for that matter, how many drunks and just plain unskilled drivers should never be allowed behind the wheel?) How is this a big deal that rates an article? A president of a certain superpower hijacked a justice system and had his military attack a nonthreatening nation. How does this compare? Priorities, people.
Bravo. Excellent bit of focus reporting. This should have been prominent in the New York Times, The Times of London, and the Paris Tribune. If more Americans (and citizens elsewhere) were made aware, in clear and precise terms, of what kind of dangers we are facing as our individual rights erode, fewer people would be so eager to waste time voting for the next American Idol and instead spend more time and thought in voting for the next American President.
