They should have stuck to the old system and made it even more rigid, insisting that companies may only use a .com or .co. domain. It was obvious from its announcement that this new TLD system would only make things a confusing mess.
I also think companies who cannot call themselves by an original name, instead redefining words, deserve scorn. Amazon is first and foremost a rainforest.
Wise up El Reg and stop interfering. I would vastly prefer if all app manufacturers just gave me the.apk rather than giving Google a monopoly over application distribution and hence forcing me to install Google Play on my devices (where they get a dirty 30% cut of all apps sold - or something like that).
I am not surprised at BT as I believe they actively discriminate against men. They use automated psychological testing after job applications which will eliminate candidates before a human being has even looked at their CV. Upon discussing the answers they wanted, it seems that they are actively selecting against male brains regardless of otherwise skill or experience.
Nationalism with strong borders actually maintains global diversity. Destroying borders and flooding white countries with the rest of the world only removes white people from the gene pool (along with all the huge diversity already expressed within white phenotypes). A white minority is already projected in every major country across the West within mere decades - so may of you need to WAKE UP and realise that what you see as a moral crusade is nothing if the sort.

You are foolishly making the assumption that just because technology fields do not have a 50:50 male:female ratio that this is somehow unfair. The reality is that men and women prefer different things. Given this fact one could actually argue that a 90:10 male:female ratio would actually be fair - that would actually be more than generous to women in the workplace in many situations e.g. the number of females in my university Electrical Engineering class was in an even lower proportion than that!

No one was removing anyone's "rights". This is reflected in the misdirection, lack of good prioritisation, and deterioration of their product as exemplified by wasting resources on an OS, the pointless fiddling to create the ugly abomination Australis, a badly redesigned menu where you ahve to "customise" to get all features, useless features such as "Pocket" on their toolbar while not having this such as a standardised share interface. They also ditched genuinely useful software such as Thunderbird.

The equivalent of sticking their fingers in their ears and screaming as they don't want to listen to why few people believe the lies, distortions of truth and omission by selective non-reporting of inconvenient un-PC facts in the overwhelmingly liberal-biased mainstream media.

All this is showing is the political bias of this particular clique within Wikipedia. I note they are not interested in listing the notoriously biased BBC as unreliable. That said, both are far more reliable than Wikipedia itself.
Waha my 2 year old Sony Xperia Z3 has better features in many ways than this! Water resistant and stereo speakers WITH a headphone socket and higher IP68 rating, higher resolution and dpi screen, more RAM, expandable storage, FM radio, bigger battery. How the hell does Apple get away with so many sales at such a ridiculous price?
A few reasons why I thought this was the best:
Nice ergonomic shape and easy to grip. Good ergonomics on keys and could touch type with accuracy.
Was brilliant to be able to browse the Web on landscape and easy to hold phone while doing so. I had a key assigned to the address bar to easily input a Web address and could use keyboard shortcuts for many functions. Only problem was too slow in general, mainly due to a 512MB RAM.
Was beautiful to use on landscape in general as you could type and see what you were typing at the same time - just like touch-typing on a PC. So good not to have the virtual keyboard obscure the screen and make landscape use impossible as on these modern keyboardless phones.
PS: typed this on an Xperia Z3, SwiftKey, and it was painful by comparison to do so, with many mistakes. I blame the media for all the ihype and for not hyping landscape keyboard phones enough, resulting in the latter no longer existing.
No, Sony Ericsson Xperia Pro. All they need to do was upgrade the processor and maybe a slightly bigger screen. Still running one on Android Lollipop (LegacyXperia Cyanogenmod 12.1) on a fast U3 SD card and works well. If they ever updated it would be superior to my Xperia Z3 in so many ways.
Just when are these idiotic laptop companies going to realise this? HiDPI means nothing when the screen real-estate is exactly as useless as on 16:9. We have been shouting and shouting about this for YEARS but they just DON'T LISTEN. How can they not understand that Apple has dominated the high-end of the laptop market by making 16:10 screens with near-perfect colour accuracy -- replicate these two elements and you will own the most profitable market segment, as I know few people who actually want to use Apple's proprietary OS/keyboard/drivers etc. Can the laptop manufacturers really be that stupid, or has Apple used its vast financial resources to bully the panel manufacturers and manipulate the market?
Additionally, it is a lie that there is more screen available on a wider screen as an identically-sized diagonal on 16:9 will have a smaller area than on 16:10.
The Z3 Compact really deserves its own separate review. For many, if not most people, it will be the better phone with more hand-friendly size, and much cheaper at £350.

No, "we" did not ask for that. A few fruit-cult members prominent in the media, caring about form and "thinness" over function made excuses for that and sent out propaganda which the laymen masses simply accepted at face value. Many of us objected, for there is no reason why a design cannot be robust, elegant, refined and compact yet also allow removable batteries. The fact that some companies have been unable to do it says more about their lack of engineering talents.
KDE Plasma widgets. It's a superior implementation to anything MS has here. Widgets on the desktop or "panel" (takbar) as well as a "Widget Dashboard" view if you want to have quick access to them. I also think the complete widget-based desktop works well and like the flexibility and organisation that the "folder view" widgets add for file access.
Indeed, poor after spending double what they could, in particular on the Z3 Compact, and getting a worse phone as a result.

As well as waterproofing, 20MP camera with 1/2.3" sensor, SD expandable storage, double the RAM, stereo speakers, active noise cancellation headset, FM radio, MHL, more interoperable OS.

You have it in one here -- most of that loss was related to some obscure accounting voodoo around "goodwill" relating to the purchase of Sony Ericsson, rather than being a pure operating loss. Something that has been completely ignored in this doom-mongering article.
Sony are here to stay, and are producing excellent products with the new Z3 Compact occupying a niche that puts the iPhone 6 to shame with a huge battery life, much smaller dimensions for similar scree and waterproofing and half the price. Yet I hear little in the press, where the reality distortion field maintained with all those brown envelopes in the back pocket and free wining and dining (though given El reg keeps moaning about not being invited to such affairs, I wonder why they are even complicit on giving coverage to the reality distortion field at all?)
I think you are misunderstanding that 50 million vs 5 million argument. That was in response to the idea of moving towards a fully federalised UK. A federal system will work better if each component is of similar size.
The irony of the SNP being in favour of the EU is more that it illustrates they clearly don't want "independence" at all.

Only if you lived in the US, paid their extortionate prices, and used the ibferior selection of US phones available. If you lived in Europe you were going along with the media hope in the Anglo sphere driven from the US (in other European countries where they don't speak English the brainwashing never took off to the same extent).
