I should have added "inasmuch as they're worth anything". They might have a dollar value on some dodgy market somewhere but that doesn't mean you can do anything economically worthwhile with them.

They didn't steal $12m. They took some internet monopoly money that just happened to have a market value in USD of $12m when they did it. The coins that Mt. Gox took/lost/whatever are worth less than half as much now as they were when they were taken for instance.
Word is though that they've got their hands on 130,000 bitcoins, rather than the original estimate of 43,000, or about $32.5m at the current rate.

As someone who's only dabbled in Ubuntu, and Ubuntu being my only real exposure to Linux, I'm not familiar with the ins and outs of it.
How does this change affect users like me who aren't likely to be overly concerned about what's going on in the background as long as it does what it's supposed to?
I think you might need to put in a tad more than 90kW in order to get 30kW out :-)
It's lucky there are engines that produce more than 90kW then!
As always it depends on the technology, but some laser systems have efficiencies far higher than that.
And I doubt it was fired continuously for very long. If the prototype has to illuminate the target for a minute (which it probably didn't) it only needs a battery pack or capacitor capable of delivering 500Wh (multiplied by the efficiency factor of whatever technology you're using, which could be anywhere from 1.5 to 4 based on some quick research).
Apple now has enough cash on hand to buy both Intel and AMD.
At their current prices, perhaps, but to a certain extent the value of a stock reflects the demand for it. If, hypothetically, Apple were to announce (whether explicitly or implicitly) an intention to buy 100% of both Intel and AMD, you'd see an immediate and quite healthy jump in the price of both companies.

Notwithstanding everything else that's wrong with your assertions, already addressed by others, and the ambiguity (at best) of this particular statement, these are two completely different scientific fields. It's like saying that what we know about semiconductors is wrong because we don't fully understand how many anaesthetics work. Why should certainty in the two fields necessarily be linked?
The only thing I am certain of is that the term 'scientist' has had its reputation very badly damaged by the snake oil pushers. Especially from the group who are currently pushing their beliefs on everyone else.

Where's the evidence they're coming from Android?
I got the impression from reading (perhaps too far?) between the lines is that this generation of iPhones has had a larger proportion of converts from Android. In isolation this might not be very useful knowledge.
However – and this is pure speculation – it's also conceivable that a measurable number of people who wanted a large screen smartphone gave up waiting for Apple and went with one running Android by default, because it was the only option.
