The 808 Pureview is Nokia's flagship product.
Not this (still rushed) abomination of a move to market with an OS that can't do shit all when compared to S^3.

Hoist by my own petard for not quantifying my post there.
The 6 month promo cycle thing, I was slinging all of the i devices together. its like their living on an infinite loop or something....
So what if AN Other OEM makes a ton of models? let the people decide what's important to them in a device. Symbian Nokia & Asus still punting kit well above apple tech levels for your example. I bet they look nicer inside too, not that I needed another bugbear..
Sent from my Tablet S using Opera Mobile & Swype, listening to raw web audio not via itunes.

Most reliable radio streamer I have found on Droid, works very well on my Tablet S.
Not sure on the record requirement though, most stations I listen to auto archive anyway so its not enough additional bells to warrant a purchase from me.
Nokia internet radio also excellent in a similar vein & if your weird enough to still be using S^3 of course.
Whilst Soundcloud has taken a lot of the more 'bedroom' producers away, I still see decent names names using MySpace & it seems a lot cleaner than in the past.
Best place for a skillful* musician to share their wares along with gigging info, back catalogues etc in my opinion.
*Skrillex not included
This Samsung is just another addition to the endless stream of variable sized rectangular slabs with nothing to hold on to & no soul.
Yuk & balls, Sony all the way & it fits in a Crumpler 7" Gimp case too
PS, the S can be rooted now apparently, not that Ive done it yet.
From any device depends entirely on the person / thing holding the camera steady. And after that its the glass in front of the sensor.. Ergo.
My N8 has been on all sorts, bamboo boom, stuck to an aircraft window (great images flying over clouds at sunset) , strapped to my bike (shaky), made up a kitchen timer rotating timelapse thing, will probably put it on a kite at some point too. Best converged communication device I have ever owned.
So yes its big thing is the camera but the results of particularly timelapse stuff is superb. I'd also much rather fire off thousands of shots on this than a DSLR. 4K HD from a phone! :-)
Sorry to go on about it...
And why I suspect its not reviewed, write video to external memory. Switchable focus modes on video, excellent glass, better sound than many camcorders etc etc. All in free and easy formats, throw it where you like. Kinda embarrassing for the competition.
Boiled down the death of Symbian is as result of Nokia taking the apple user lock in route and that sucks hard. I'm only buoyed by the hint of one final S^3 successor to the N8.
Crippling the most useful phone OS so soon to pander to the market that responds best to advertising is a crime.
Is my first guess.
Easy pairing / device id for a myriad of uses, and with data up in the cloud its possible to throw data to a consumption device of your choosing (given reasonable connectivity), even if you are using multiple form factors to engorge your eyes and ears with the same 'content'.
I have seen no reason to move from the 10meg service as it does what I need (especially when these speed bumps keep coming) but the glitching Im getting of late when streaming radio at 192k is becoming a pain! My 3G is better ffs and that aint right!
Not all the time & at various times through the month so I dont think Im being throttled but quite why Im seeing these drop outs I dont know... 20 Gig a month average download doesnt strike me as excessive either, or is it?
After 3 months with a Droid tab I have found precisely one app that has impressed (Opera & Swype excluded as std on any device for me).... TuneIn radio fwiw, all others I have come across are just buggy, generally superfluous & as mentioned above, the big G know enough without having my bank details too.
Symbian on the other hand... All good from a years experience and I have spent money, it may not have the headline numbers but maybe that makes it easier to find the good ones?
Some of the shit people download tho (regardless of OS choice)... Baffling, then again if there are nuggets that will pay £4.50 a week sub for a screensaver on their phone, an app that farts for a quid seems like a bargain.
Probably because I'm looking at it wrong or something..
The modern TV is the last bastion of a man and his settings, not that I'd ever get an apple one. I like being able to change the contrast.
In any case, in reality its just another shop window to the 30% margin that is itunes, that's all idevices are these days, a credit card interface.
Update came OTA last night & all seems to work well.
The controller needs to be connected to the Tablet first via USB, then unplugged to enable the wireless connection. Pretty sure it stays paired after that but you'll need the cable first.
On screen controls can be turned off too (settings button appears in the taskbar), giving a nice uncluttered experience when gaming although the arrival of a widescreen game or three on the PS store will be a welcome addition to really make it stand out, as from what i can see were all in 4:3 at the mo. Any iteration of Gran Turismo please Sony.
You also get a battery indicator icon in the notification area & the controller will charge when plugged in.
As an aside, you also get limited control of the tablet itself, opening apps, a mouse pointer in Opera (limited to the web page only), moving around the home screens etc. Dont seem to be able to browse & play your music/video from the lists though as there seems not to be a way to highlight the track you want to play. Music plays fine from the homescreen widget however allowing you to pause, skip tracks etc.
I guess the whole point of this is for the gaming side of things & at that its perfect. If updates can come to allow full control of the whole device then we're really cooking on gas, will be interesting to see how the update cycle continues. Its a very lovely bit of kit.
So I went & got one when the price dropped by £50. 2yr gtee with John Lewis too.
Its great in places, bit lame in others.
Main bad is that AdHoc wifi is not available so cant tether to a phone (Rooters dont seem to be having much luck either). Wifi also very keen to turn off when the screen locks, despite telling it to keep it on.
Shape is truly great though & whilst there is no glass to be seen, it feels solid enough. Proper screen size for video too, also taken a decent drop with no hint of damage. Battery life is a non issue.
I/R remote app is brilliant & works my Tivo box better than the std remote with no lag between key press & screen action. Swype has also added a far better input method than the stock keyboard that just looks way too big after being used to typing on a phone.
As a web consumption device its a great bit of kit, with Opera of course, altho the stock browser aint half bad when it comes to playing flash video in full screen.
Most important of course is that there is no i on it anywhere & thats good.
Im with Insane Reindeer, just lose the police entirely for me, I just wanna drive!
Last NFS I played with any regularity was on the Wii & I doubt I'll be returning, Im entrenched in GT5 as it goes.
Tho saying that, the Cruden Simulator at the bottom of Weston Pier just makes any racing game anemic. It the only good reason to visit but I promise if you like driving you wont regret it. Want one!
I have played briefly with samples of the 800 & 710 and it has the shiny shiny but no where near the customisable grunt I get from my current device.
Read/write from/to external USB memory being a big one.
Symbian may seem complicated to some but you can really make it do things that other phones just wont. Maybe its just me who like messing with settings & trying things out? FM transmitter too, proper useful.
Maybe the N8 was/is the pinnacle of what a phone can do & its all down hill from here in to the phones for nuggets sphere who like shiny over function, but I sincerly hope not.
Only gripe is that Orange take an age to release OTA updates, but other than that, boss!
Gonna take a lot more to prise me away from S^3
Just adding my voice, you may have been surprised.
No hardship to just throw one in to the pot for shits & giggles cos its dead anyway right? tsk
All the tested are 'me too' devices in my eyes. S^3 walks its on path & I welcome its foibles with open arms. Its good to be different. Supported for another 5 years, that'll do for me.
How far we have come in the previous five years is more important. Whole ecosystem will be different in 2016 as I see it & until then, N8+Opera=Win
Obvious to me from the get go of the whole Elop adventure.
Purposefully expensive, 'a la apple', Nokian hardware running SW compatible with the most used PC architecture on the planet, Sling in XBOX compatibility and this will sell by the Jub load.
Complete & utter no brainer.
MS hardware so far has been an embarrassment to tech. Only problem will be getting the Nokia designed/made ones to break, apple are still king there.
To those people, using anything other than Opera mobile/mini for browsing 99% of the web on their mobile devices, pray tell why? Sod iphone anyway, its being regularly updated for the rest of us whatever your platform of choice.
Guy in the Sony store couldn't believe the difference when I installed Mini on their Tablet S during a demo, said they were still on a 512k line so seemed appropriate, use it, you'll like it!

Not really a killer for me as DNLA kit seems to have filled the gap, tho considering there is an HDMI port in my phone, it really should be there.
Recession being as it is I have held back from getting one, pretty convinced they will drop the price closer to Christmas & if not then January. £400 is just a little too much, £299 will see these things flying out.
Concerned there is no Gorilla Glass on the front & it does feel plasticky but either way, its not an ipad & should keep the Mrs happy (and off my laptop).
Still a little meh that the top phone is just a N9 in disguise but agree that with the timescales concerned its good to see these devices in the market now.
I wait with interest for the leaked details on the proper 'designed' for winpho models, before I'll even consider ditching S3 (I like playing with settings as it goes).
As an aside, sent an email to Mr Elop earlier this week & got a nice reply back at 7am the next morning, yeah he's had to bone a lot of people and thats always controversial but this whole Nokia/Microsoft tie up is all good in my book, for the not too distant future anyway.
The public are set to get some very nice devices in their mitts.
Or similar is what Im waiting for, you have to hope Nokia will garner some flexibility in the standards set for other OEM's.
A Nokia tablet will be interesting too, as that cant be far off either.
Still, Im a happy S^3 user & I'll be sticking with until it expires I think, despite its foiballs its a pretty capable OS.
